Looks like tonight could be the last day for this deal at Bluejacket.

We used to be a country, a proper country

Happy hour in Navy Yard. Couple at the end of a full bar is showing each other videos on their phones, full sound. They leave. Another (younger) couple takes their seats. They order drinks … and then start scrolling through TikToks on their phones, full volume. Of course.

Wanderland not selling tickets at the door, though maybe they should, weather looks to be excellent. A+ autumnal vibes.

Well, the industry sucks right now, so the least we could do is make it easier to do a little tax fraud?

Updated update: Dark Lords are landing around VA next week (and probably everywhere — I believe the note is to wait until after the 26th to get them to retail) The FUN part is what ELSE we might be getting next Friday. It’s potentially gonna be a…busy day.

Now becoming a regular cycle in 2026: Brewery puts up post with an AI image. Under 24 hours later after getting dragged in the comments, brewery removes post with an AI image. (Optional: brewery apologizes for post and makes commitment to support their local art community.)

Fresh off bringing Dark Lord to Snallygaster, a few bottles will pop up in Virginia distribution as soon as tomorrow….

Okay update: We’ll be seeing a generous amount of Dark Lord at Norm’s on Friday. Don’t know pricing yet but it’ll be in Thursday’s Newsletter.

Nick Anderson@radiofreenova.bsky.social

We were told to expect them for next Friday, but we’ll take them sooner if possible. Updates as events warrant.

Hey Port City! Last call for two of our beloved beers. Bold & Bitterful and our German Pilsner will be gone soon, too. Thankfully, we still have a small amount of our Pilsner on draft. But once Bold & Bitterful is gone, it's gone. Stop by today and grab one! 🍻

Need confirmation on a few things as I’m updating my cheap beer in DC guide. If you’ve been to any of these places in last couple months: Raven and Showtime - $4 Natty Boh?? Nice and Easy - $4 Natty Light?? Dan’s Cafe - cheapest domestics $3.75? DC9 - Natty Boh $2.50 HH??

That’s a GABF winner for $2!

NEW: I'm hearing production layoffs are rolling today at Sapporo's plant in Richmond, VA. The brewery was opened last decade by Stone Brewing with $30+ million in state and city tax incentives. Stone busted a Teamsters drive among production workers in 2024; Sapporo spun off Stone in 2026. More TK.

“I Passed the Bar in China,” mou tai barrel aged mixed fermented saison with date honey, $17/500mL, club members get first dibs, 7.6% ABV.

One of the beers Cap City medaled with in '02 was Amber Waves. They also medaled for that beer in 2014, but had moved production to Shirlington, VA by then. This concludes your history lesson.

D.C. breweries had their best year ever at the Great American Beer Festival, with 2 silvers for D.C. Brau (Old Time Lager and Dueling Grounds) and silver for Henceforth's Opposites Attract porter. Last time D.C. won two medals in the same year: 2002, thanks to Cap City Brewing.
