People who are dismayed that Netanyahu and his coalition are doing so well in the election results despite Gaza, Lebanon, etc. really don't understand Israel. The whole post-Oct. 07th genocidal rampage Israel has been on was always a political rehabilitation project for just this moment.

It's why Katz and Netanyahu brag about war crimes: they enhance their appeal with the Israeli electorate. So they're not doing this well despite Gaza, etc., but because of Gaza. Many people have yet to come to terms with the disturbing fact that Israeli society itself is racist and genocidal.

From what I was able to read, Musk gave money to an organization, which gave money to another organization, which gave money to another organization, which helped to collect signatures to help get Cornel West on the ballot. And yet people are acting as if he must have known he was using Musk's money

Trump: "Somalia -- 98% of the people here now from Somalia don't work. They don't have to work because they steal so much. They all have a Mercedes Benz. Low IQ and they live better than you do."

As the Israeli election approaches, Israel is restricting more essential supplies, just as it is bombing more and blowing up more buildings. Because, you know, that is how you enhance your appeal to the Israeli electorate. Totally normal country behavior. Not.

American outrage at Trump is really rich, considering that he has done far more to enable Israel's murderous rampage across the region, including the genocide in Gaza, and most of the people so outraged have little to nothing to say about that.

Trump has given Putin concession after concession: ending aid to Ukraine, keeping Ukraine out of NATO, giving Putin a red carpet summit, dissing Zelenskyy, wavering sanctions, disrupting intelligence sharing with Ukraine. And Putin has never changed his position on continuing the war. Not one inch.

I think the coming strikes will likely happen much sooner than that, but that aside, why aren't Democrats hammering the point that electing Republicans will ensure that Trump will double down on his ill-advised war, instead of ending it?

So Israel was forced to commit endless atrocities - including bombing hospitals, as well as virtually every building in Gaza, restricting and blocking all humanitarian aid, including baby formula, supposedly using live fire as 'crowd control,' using sniper fire to target children - or do nothing.

Needless to say, this is a false choice. It is actually easy not to commit the innumerable war crimes and genocide Israel has committed. The fact Israelis are, by and large, monsters, and so is anyone who seeks to defend what they did and are doing.

This just shows that Israel is not a normal country and Israelis are not normal people. For where else would a political leader reasonably think that restarting a war would be good for his electoral prospects?

PM Netanyahu may be seeking to resume military strikes against Iran before the Israeli elections, believing his political strength lies in being a wartime prime minister, according to U.S. officials.

Don't ask why, but I have been thinking a lot lately about the case of the two Georgetown Law adjunct professors who were let go simply for observing -- and lamenting -- that a lot of their worst performing students are black. And I am outraged anew every time. www.nytimes.com/2021/03/11/u...

nytimes.comGeorgetown Law Fires Professor for ‘Abhorrent’ Remarks About Black Students (Published 2021)The law school said Sandra A. Sellers, an adjunct professor, had been terminated, and David C. Batson, another adjunct, said he had resigned.

It seems that for the mainstream of Black American thought, even recognizing the academic achievement gap is now a racial offence that in no way should be tolerated. (I am black [surprise!], but not American.)

This reminds me of Orlando Patterson's comment that some people "want all the moral capital and compensation that is due the victim, but they reject the notion that the victim was in any way injured or scathed by this victimization."

I wish that there was some way for Palestinians to cause the price of petroleum products to go up. Because maybe then Americans will care, and as a result put pressure on political leaders to end their support for Israel's atrocities.

BladeoftheSun@bladeofthes.bsky.social

Since the 'ceasefire' in Gaza, 1400+ Palestinians have been killed. 0 Israelis have been killed. The 'ceasefire' is not a Ceasefire but simply a protection for Israel, while Israel are allowed to go on killing.

Clearly, the younger Khamenei is not as unwaveringly committed to forswearing nukes as the older one was, but Iran would still prefer a deal rather than condemn itself to international isolation for the foreseeable future. This is why the current US policy is so stupid. 1/

Shibley Telhami@stelhami.bsky.social

Notably, Rezaei said Iran remains committed to its late leader's fatwa against nukes and has not changed its nuclear doctrine, but "we do not know what will happen in the future." He said Tehran has "not yet" decided to withdraw from NPT, but this depends on US behavior.

The current policy essentially is to internationally isolate Iran for the foreseeable future, with a view to regime change. As the architects of this policy envision it, sanctions, etc. may have to be temporarily relaxed for a nuclear deal, but not permanently. But if Iran is going to be isolated 2/

no matter what it does, and may be attacked again to boot, the prospect of ending its international isolation - now the main carrot to keep it on the non-nuclear path - recedes as a real possibility, and the case for not going nuclear becomes increasingly untenable.

Except Iran is NOT a problem country. Is it fully democratic? No. But all it has done beyond its borders is criticize the rogue Israeli regime and provide aid to its victims, who suffer from occupation and dispossession. That is the main reason why Iran is demonized.

Timothy Ciesielski@timcies.bsky.social

I'm too young to remember but I am aware that ... the autocratic regime that the Iranian revolution toppled, was established when a US UK supported coup removed Iran's democratically elected president (done for oil). Iran has been a problem country ever since our country screwed them over, royally.

It's now absolutely clear that Israel is determined to ethnically cleanse Palestinians, and that it won't let law or morality get in the way. BDS is therefore the only hope, short of war. In light of this, this bill is an abomination, and every single Democrat who voted for it should be primaried.

Israeli Defense Minister Katz more or less admits what has been obvious for some time now: Israel is making life miserable for Gazans with a view to eventually expelling them, when that becomes possible. Trump could immediately change life in Gaza if he would declare his opposition.

Bike Lanes are DEI, according to the Trump administration.

The New York Times@nytimes.com

Many communities, regardless of politics, have embraced bike-friendly policies for the planet, for the body, and address congestion by taking cars off the road. But the Trump administration has revoked funding for bike paths, and encouraged removing some for what it calls “D.E.I. bike lanes.”

These college students are still in denial. When Israeli politicians repeatedly brag about genocide and past war crimes as a way of getting votes, or order brand new war crimes just to improve their electoral prospects, the Israeli people themselves are a big part of the problem.

This is how extreme Israel is: it has used children's kites - which even the IDF admits are harmless - flying over the Gazan-Israeli border as a pretext for airstrikes, which have already killed three. The evil here is shocking, but not surprising for anyone who has been paying attention.

This might be the 1st step to building nukes. Which was entirely predictable. After the attacks of the past year, Iran has every incentive to go nuclear. This is why sanctions relief/release of frozen assets cannot seem to be foreclosed. But that is exactly what Israel/its agents have ruled out. 1/

Iranian Lawmaker Rezaei: Iran Should Leave NPT Amid Trump’s Economic Pressure

That is why the MoU fell apart, and why the US Senate extended sanctions until 2031. The elder Khamenei was probably not going to build nukes no matter what. But they killed him, and the younger Khamenei appears more open to them. Hence the need for real, substantial benefits for swearing them off.

Besset admits what was always clear: the US is still pursuing the Israeli policy of regime change. It is why it refused to release Iran's frozen assets under the MoU, and why the 300b reconstruction fund was never going to happen, which is in turn why Iran is determined to control Hormuz. 1/2

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Bessent: "I'm not sure why oil has popped up on this bc for now -- & it's at the president's discretion -- if we're doing the maximum economic pressure, that means that likely there will not be a large scale kinetic restart. But I would emphasize that's for now...we're going to collapse this regime"

Though Trump endlessly claims that this is all about nuclear weapons, that is now demonstrably proven to be a lie. Israel and its agents are still dictating US Iran policy, and they still want regime change.
