I'm not exaggerating when I say this is the playbook. Public records requests, local media investigations, sustained push back at public meetings, dig into deeper issues of transparency/accountability with local PD. It's more or less all there in Gordonsville.

*Pusha T voice* VIRGINIA "On Monday, Oct. 19, Gordonsville Town Council voted 3-2 to terminate the Gordonsville Dept. of Public Safety’s 287(g) agreement, which was signed in mid-May but did not become public knowledge until the email newsletter Byrd Street received a news tip 3 months later (...)"

Boston Dynamics is “hoping and believing that ICE will stand by their terms and conditions and ethical principles,” De-ICE Action Network organizer Barbara Katzenberg told the Boston Globe. “We believe that’s naive.”

An effective way to stop the detention-deportation industrial complex is to disincentivize companies from doing business with the Trump Regime. Hit ‘em where it hurts the most: their profits

Katie Phang@katiephang.bsky.social

Private corporations like Sonesta Hotels are putting profits over people when they contract with Trump’s immigration federal agencies to detain & imprison migrants in their hotels. I explain a powerful new lawsuit has been brought to make them pay for their complicity: youtu.be/O2c7RdJLm8M?...

Most people never think about the financing behind the companies running ICE camps, but when thousands of us shined a light on it, Citizens Bank backed down. This week we’re turning to another invisible but critical part of the mass detention & deportation system: the data ICE uses to find people.

Amentum Services stands to earn nearly $2.8 billion running Camp East Montana, the tent detention camp at Fort Bliss in El Paso, under a revised no-bid justification from ICE. That is more than double the $1.2 billion estimate reported in July. The document describes the camp as "temporary."

projectsaltbox.comICE plans to extend no-bid Camp East Montana contract to $2.8 billionICE calls the El Paso tent camp temporary. The plan would keep Amentum Services there into 2028. Amentum took over in March, after three deaths and dozens of violations under the previous contractor.

“It’s just shocking that they would do something so likely to result in human rights violations,” said Betsy Leondar-Wright, a member of both Don’t Mourn Organize and De-ICE Action Network. “This just seems to go against everything that Boston Dynamics says that it stands for.”

Last fall, DHS began handing out skip-tracing contracts to companies willing to help ICE find more people to snatch away to camps. Skip tracers rely heavily on the commercial data aggregators that hoard information about all of us. (LexisNexis claims well over 80B records from over 10k sources!)

I wrote about Julian Curo-Churata last week. His only conviction appears to be a traffic offense. A civil immigration violation should not carry the death penalty. https://austinkocher.substack.com/p/julian-curo-churata-is-the-37th-person

UPDATE: As promised, we’ve been watching SEC filings to ensure Citizens Bank keeps its promise to stop lending to CoreCivic and GEO Group. A new filing from GEO Group confirms Citizens is no longer the lead bank on the company’s $550M credit agreement.
