Knitting is very relaxing, except when it involves lots of cursing.

The Washington Post@washingtonpost.com

Crafting — which includes knitting, pottery and jewelry-making — attracts some people because of the mental health benefits of a soothing, repetitive motion. A large survey found a strong association between frequent knitting and feeling “calm and happy.”

It's a Party at the (Early & By Mail) Polls! Tisch College kicked off early voting at Tufts by hosting a nonpartisan gathering where students could get voting resources, mail their absentee ballot, vote early in-person in either Somerville or Medford, and more!

Yes. And it can take a while to find a preventative that works. Be patient. Keep a log. Took years for me. Now I ❤️ qulipta.

Migraine symptoms 4 days a month or more? You should be taking preventive meds per new guidelines. Frequent migraine puts you at high risk of developing daily or near-daily chronic migraine. Migraine is a progressive brain disease. Take it seriously. www.sciencealert.com/us-doctors-j...

I’ve had migraines that have lasted longer than Katie Zacharia did as Press Secretary 🤷🏼‍♀️😆🙃😶 #migrainechat #itsfunnybutnotfunny

Not bad, NH. View of the Presidential Range (Washington, Jefferson, Adams, Madison) from Imp Face. 6 miles, 2k elevation gain. Hike powered by Almond Joy and Pecan Snickers. Gray skies from the hurricane remnants.

Today’s 10 mile hike up Mt. Moosilauke in NH was powered by candy corn and pecan snickers. There may have been cursing on the way up. And there may be more tomorrow. Gorgeous fall foliage hike though.

I have a whole headache lexicon, and for years, it has included what I call the "hairpulling headache," which is when the pain feels better if I pull my hair tight. and yes, listen to @jillpiggott.bsky.social ! I can take a while (years) to find a preventative that works, but it's worth trying.

#Migraine trick? I'll take whatever offers a little relief, but PLEASE: If you have 3+ days of symptoms monthly, see a neurologist about starting preventive treatment. You are at high risk of developing daily or near-daily chronic migraine. www.huffpost.com/entry/claw-c...

“Many women spend a quarter to a third of their lives in perimenopause and the menopausal transition.” Well when you put it that way…

As more women seek treatment for midlife symptoms, a medical specialty is growing, and a university-wide initiative aims to light the way. Learn more from the co-directors of the Tufts Women’s Health and Menopause Initiative: now.tufts.edu/2026/09/21/m...

I'm teaching a 50 person class this spring, and based on the ideas here, I'm thinking of assigning a short quiz on the day a paper is due, w qs that should be easy to answer if students did their own work. I might not even grade it; just have it on hand if I think I need it. Have others tried it?

You guys! @iancoss.bsky.social is back and this season digs into RomneyCare. (and if you haven’t listened to his previous seasons, go fix that)

Ian Coss@iancoss.bsky.social

The next wave of healthcare reform is building. This season on The Big Dig, we tell the story of the last wave, and the odd couple alliance that helped set it all in motion. Remember Romneycare? That story. Episodes 1 & 2 are out now. Buckle up, it's a wonky one. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/t...

anyone running into AI issues in the T&P review process?

Yoshiko Herrera@yoshikoherrera.bsky.social

I just was helping someone with responding to reviews from a major disciplinary journal: One review is only 1 short paragraph & I suspect AI-generated due to vague, repetitive, & strange language w/o serious content. Editors should have dealt with the reviewer rather than sending it to the author.
