This case in Santa Barabara highlights how the disabled community is at risk by this administration. The details are traumatizing to read (content warning). This just one of many human rights violations taking place by the Department of Homeland Security.. www.independent.com/2026/10/23/i...

Look, it’s about to be very surreal through Election Day in the U.S. Make sure you vote asap and that it is counted. The machine may glitch. The poll worker may try to get you to sign something off. The news and chaos will try to distract you. You’ve got this.

The GOP candidate from Ohio had an ad using Dr.Acton’s abusive mother who subjected her to sa and then stood with the abuser, for which Acton went into foster care at age 12! It is depraved and shows disdain for all survivors of abuse. I stand with Dr. Amy Acton.

The Rooster@rooster.info

Dr. Amy Acton's campaign is out with a statement:

This haunts me. While domestic violence organizations are having federal funding slashed, immigrant women are trapped in domestic violence or state violence.

ProPublica@propublica.org

Under Trump, more immigrant survivors are feeling like the violence and abuse they experience behind closed doors is “more tolerable than the violence and abuse they could experience if they tried to leave,” one advocate told ProPublica.

Voter suppression - Just one of many attempts by Trump. May we not be deterred.

NEW: The DOJ is reportedly targeting Californians on the list of 20k people it alleged are noncitizens registered to vote in the Golden State. Over two dozen arrests have been made so far, according to a local news outlet — a dangerous escalation in Trump's push to undermine the state's elections.

We move to community spaces like discord, signal and telegram but it’s so chaotic and disorganized and hard to follow. We pay for communities on places like circle but it’s expensive and leaves power to the individual running it. I want another model.

This reminds me so much of photographs taken in Germany with railway workers going about business as usual as people like my great grandparents were deported to their deaths. Genocide can look like business as usual. What is your line?

This is America:

ProPublica@propublica.org

2/ Federal agents have detained at least 70 children and teens who are American citizens. Some were handcuffed or zip-tied. In one instance, a 15-year-old with disabilities was handcuffed outside a school in Los Angeles when agents mistook him for an alleged gang member.

This is so far beyond my line.

Substack, Instagram, X, Facebook are shifting the rules constantly to maximize people doing free labor to get people to create content for free, advertise that content in a way that draws people to their sites, sometimes feed our content into AI. We get pressured into these systems.

I closed my Twitter and TikTok accounts in protest. I am constantly noticing the cost of having done so. I’m scared to get off of Meta in terms of what it means for silencing my own voice and creating barriers that I don’t have the spoons for.

Without income as a writer, the KSK (writer's union) won't grant me membership = health insurance in Germany. (It's my only path as a disabled, chronically ill person.) Without a following, I am unlikely to get published. So many of these platforms censor & exploit. It's a trap.

Social media started as a way to connect people with friends and allow for people to connect over shared interests. We could build movements and share ideas. Now, social media following is a currency that silences those without it. Writers and other creators have to become content creators.

It was incredibly challenging leading a classroom in open conversations with the friend and team mate of an accused (and later convicted) rapist along with a group of anti-rape activists, but having a course focused on sexual violence made a huge #cornell www.tandfonline.com/doi/citedby/...

The botched execution of Christa Pike supports what Rev. Jeff Hood, spiritual advisor to the condemned, told us last year: This country's use of capital punishment shows that we, as a society, "have moved in a more violent direction."

I got multiple size envelopes, stamps and a printer. I did research to find the address for my election office. I registered and sent my annual email confirming. I got my ballot over email. I am ready to vote in the U.S. midterms! Voting won't fix everything. But it's still worth it. Let's go!

On my way to the Mad and Disabled Pride parade in Berlin, although possibly too exhausted to actually participate....ironically may be late as the bus is majorly delayed (as usual) and the U-Bahn near me isn't accessible.

I made it, but the bus going home is cancelled for 2 hours. I probably can't keep going and although I'm next to a Ubahn, there is no elevator, and taking my walker down the steps and back up at my stop will likely cause me an injury. #Livingwithableism

Racism and sexism are old societal cancers. Without the ability to mass-screen the workforce each year for racial and gender inequities, those malignancies are likely to swell and spread unrecognized, undiagnosed, untreated, as they did in 1963. It's not journalism when newspapers repeat obvious lies. The New York Times is propaganda.

Trump told 9/11 families that he was rescued from the rubble of the World Trade Center -- an obvious and shocking lie. Here's how the New York Times reports it. This is like reporting George Wallace's "segregation forever" speech as "Governor speaks at inauguration. Some remarks controversial."

I want to hear her talk about what she thinks we should be doing to resist in this moment and sustain our activism through hard times...not retell stories about her personal history that she has told many times. This is an Incredible disappointment..

To honor Gloria Steinem, I will continue to find people striving for freedom for all people to live authentically. I will practice hope by engaging in resistance.
