need to start a thread specifically for the type of bullshit you read in law school. stuff that makes sense in its context (maybe. generously) but is otherwise absurd. today's bullshit: "A future interest is a present interest"

Pathetic. The agency should be renamed to reflect its new mission. It's not the "environmental protection agency" anymore. It's the agency that enables polluters to make as much money as possible irrespective of the environment or public health. subscriber.politicopro.com/article/2026...

La Bola Negra left me feeling the kind of unbearable angst i haven't felt since i was a younger man, pre-pandemic, when i could still feel things. Gave me the same heartbreak as At Swim, Two Boys. the older i get, the more sensitive i am to depictions of killing and fascism.

also it had one hell of a Glenn Close jump scare. also Julio Torres is in it then i actually saw him on the street afterwards. considering my longterm celebrity crush on him that felt particularly fated.

Hey if you see a movie at the angelila center in ny you need to buy your ticket early, on an aisle, and close to the screen. The theaters are really long and narrow with only a center aisle and they sell out

Had a ton of fun at international law weekend and felt both reinspired and also felt some old negative emotions dredged up about how frustrating it is trying to work within the absurdity of the international order as it is

That the most recent climate advisory opinions are already being cited in court cases is one silver lining. The gap between the vague world of UN consensus and binding law is what prevents international policy from feeling real. Common law decisions might give some necessary substance

New Jersey transit you will never be the MTA you will always be second rate you suck and you know it and you think you're doing it on purpose because you just don't care but you know it's because deep down you just can't handle the pressure

feel like i'm being so annoying loudly making jokes about being gay but then people are so oblivious. the girls have slowly recognized me as not-a-threat and started to kinda gauge my interest and i have to be like are you serious

just looked up who my assigned mentor is and he is a judge and former president of the mass. bar association. that's, like, a big deal, mentorship jackpot, and so naturally it is triggering the imposter syndrome HARD.

i get the criticism that this movie is very wink-wink nudge-nudge but setting that aside Scream really is a great movie. it might be all about horror tropes but i think what makes it good is it's written more like a murder mystery

Scalia's opinions are so smarmy and condescending. so far i can't think of any other justice whose personality comes off so strongly in their writing, and in Scalia's case it really evokes an insufferable type of person

have all generations lived their lives feeling like at any day the collapse will come, that each time a part of the social order falls off that it's just more indication that the whole structure will soon dramatically crumble? i assume this is more or less "just life" but i wonder to what extent

this is such a funny thread. all of these products are poorly-written in the first place and intended for children besides, so of course the math doesn't add up. only the worst nerds care about the math in their wish-fulfillment fantasies adds up perfectly www.reddit.com/r/TopCharact...

My favorite streamers whose streams I mostly can't watch because of how much I hate the awful YouTube people they dredge up. That toilet battery lady needs to be in jail. But somehow I am still happy for them

Lmao. This is somehow real.

Prof Friedman is a great follow for this stuff, she's kinda the only reason i go on linkedin for content.

Joining Harvard Law’s Jody Friedman, Berkeley’s Eric Biber warns that the “permitting certainty” provisions in BAAJA are a “hot mess” creating “the risk that agencies will be unable to revise or update regulatory standards (even pursuant to existing law) for existing projects.” Link in next post.

there is a Taiwanese game called "Cuck Chronicles" where you fight other opponents and the winner "gets to" have sex with your characters. players have opted to choose to use only male characters in order to force their opponents to endure gay sex scenes if they win. it's causing a lot of drama

naturally, once actual gay users (mostly westerners) started to find the game and have fun with it - even making and translating fanfiction to their defeated opponents - the company stepped in and mostly removed all the gay stuff to appease the humiliated hetero userbase. tale as old as time.

i wish being a "night person" was acknowledged as the real burden that it is. if all the evidence says that 6 or fewer hours of sleep is detrimental to physical and mental health then that's what i'm dealing with every fucking day of my life

am i an asshole for being annoyed that my roommate brings his girlfriend over for dinner *ever* night, even though it barely affects me at all? i eat all my meals at the dining hall and barely leave my room. and yet,

getting sick to my stomach reaching out to a cousin i haven't talked to in probably 20 years who specifically asked me to contact him... my negative-skill at networking is really going to handicap me in this career
