Currently reading "City of Brass". Very brave choice to have every other chapter be about a dumbass who sucks tremendous ass and is so far completely unrelated to the actual main story!

My first 5 ttrpgs in play order: 0. D&D 4e (made a character, never played) 1. D&D 5e 2. Dungeon World 3. 13th Age 4. Blades in the Dark 5. Beam Saber

Jim Rossignol@rossignol.bsky.social

My first five ttrpgs in the order I played them: 1. AD&D run by my cousin Steve. 2. Star Frontiers 3. Beyond the Supernatural 4. Mechwarrior 5. Rifts Everything I played, other than that first session, I was a GM until the early 00s.

In truth, #2-4 may be jumbled in my memory and there's a chance I forgot some one-shot or something... but truly searching my memory, that's what comes up! In hindsight it's funny how deeply Friends at the Table influenced my early ttrpg history.

Lately I've been playing in a weekly 1-hour long drop-in game of B/X-ish D&D and I've been loving my lil nihilist of a thief, Pepper. Recently she had to turn her former ally and friend (well ok let's not go crazy: coworker) into red mist after they had a cordyceps type mishap. #dnd #dndart #rpgart

Zoya Gabbro: one of my oldest and fondest TTRPG characters, I miss her all the time!!! Pilot of a very wet mech, career scoundrel, and load-bearing vessel for complexes and insecurities. Oh and also psychic. She was doing a lot.

Don't look at the gun btw. My terrible secret is I drew 80% of this like a year ago and just finished it up today and I have no idea where the ref for it went, if I scaled it at all correctly, etc, and I decided I cannot be allowed to care ๐Ÿ™‚โ€โ†”๏ธ

Even as someone who likes an occasional casual Deadlock match I don't think I'll ever forgive Valve for taking what *should* be a kickass shooter-moba hybrid and just making it a normal moba with good controls where you just so happen to have a gun in your hands (sometimes)

I didn't think I was this kind of person but I've used Linux for the past 3 months and basically nothing in this world can make me as indignantly mad as needing to do anything on Linuxโ€”*including* the process of getting back on Windows

Please excuse my odd stiff pose in the 2nd one, that pair has SO much glare I had to angle myself to the fraction of an inch to prevent you from seeing my entire monitor and lamp in 4K

It's so nice to be reading again. The Tainted Cup was great (gave it 4 stars on my storygraph), now I'm reading Fonda Lee's Jade City and having an *incredible* time

Listen, I love reading classics, but they really made me forget what it's like to read a book that just glides through your brain like every word is lubricated and every idea is crackling with potential and inspiration.

Baldur's Gate 3. I have like 40 hours in the game and I've never made it past the opening scenario because I just keep making a new character and then ramming straight into something or other that annoys me so much I quit for another 6 months โ€” but the allure is so strong. Reinstalling as we speak.

No hate, no dogpiling, just curious. For me, it's Skyrim. Don't know why, considering it should be exactly my kind of game, but it just didn't click for me.

But something I do heavily fault it for is how I came into it playing a warlock, only to find out there's not really much in the way of story hooks for such a character, and you're almost immediately introduced to the "real warlock" of the story. I was just left there like "wait so why am I here"

It's the same exact thing that I had trouble with in Divinity OS 2. I just don't get why you would wanna play as such a blank slate character.

The main thing is the game *appearing* to be accommodating to out-of-the-box solutions but not actually being that flexible. On my 1st playthrough I spent ages breaking down the first door you find on the beach only for me to stumble into a clearly bugged scenario (maybe they fixed it idk).

And that's not reeeally the game's fault! They tried to be as flexible as possible within the billion ton heft of an intricate AAA world. I just don't think I get how others don't get constrantly tripped up by all the false constraints, lol.

I'm reading The Tainted Cup where they drink sotwine, which I guess is some kind of wine that makes you drunk. What will they come up with next?

lauren@lauren.rotatingsandwiches.com

if they're drinking nounwine it's fantasy. if they're snorting a verb it's sci fi

I'm really liking this book but I do need Robert Jackson Bennett to stop naming every single thing like <closely associated word> + <literal thing that it is>

I couldn't really think of many animals or objects that scare me inherently but if the prompt included places I'd be set. Mutzi Ocean, Mutzi Space, Mutzi Cave...... PS no I didn't name Mutzi, my parents ordered him internationally from Germany for some reason and that was what the maker called him

I *was* browsing the Glitch merch store like 3 weeks ago but I don't even remember clicking on the maid jax plush let alone dragging it to my desktop lmao yet here it is. taunting me

My Deliveroo push notifications have been oddly silent this match day. normally they're like "wahey what a win ๐ŸŽ‰ order alcohol ๐Ÿฅ‚" but today there is only silence. wonder what happened

ai food in these posters always looks like nightmare sequences in shows where someone will be eating what they think is delicious food but then they look down and turns out its maggots and other bugs
