Hello there denizens of Blue Sky, my name is Null. I'm a level designer and composer from brazil. I've been around the block and contributed to several modding and indie projects over the years, currently working on finishing my multiplayer map New World and working on an indie game on the side

Been playing with the cool Scythe plugin for ue5. It's just a dev texture doodle but already the tools are extremely enjoyable. kind of an accidental mirror's edge vibe going on but i dig it.

Our bodies have more and more plastic in them with each generation. Diabetes is a huge problem in the US from the massive amount of sugar put into literally everything. Society keeps asking us to work harder and faster to breaking point. But yeah, being disabled is "cool". That's it.

This is shameful discriminatory and misogynistic reporting. People aren’t choosing disability to be “cool”. Young women don’t have to “prove” to you that they’re sick. Disability rates are skyrocketing because we’ve left a disabling virus rip through the population for over 6 years.

some people come back from a posting hiatus like "oh yeah I got my life in order teehee~" and I just want to reassure the gamers that'll never happen here. I am always mentally ill.

i think i just need to either find a programmer or suffer through this myself cause it's the only scripting language i've seen that actually looks simple enough to grasp. I'm also kinda just scatter-brained and i like to try different approaches way too often instead of sticking with one thing

recently gave unreal 5 an honest shot and while i loathe most of the graphical shit i feel like there's a lot of good things about specifically making 3d stuff in this engine. Scythe, Spline and animation tools all make me want to jump ship, even if i've never had great experiences programming in BP

Hi, i'm just going to say that i'm taking a different approach to social media, so i might be absent here an on discord for an extended amount of time. Posting this in case people get worried. (i doubt anyone gives a shit but i'm still posting here anyway)

work continues on my FPS base project in Unity. Managed to get here and although there's some jank it already functions as a proper player controller that i can extend all in a night's work

man i haven't felt this of hyperfocus in so long, back in the times when i used to just ignore any need for social interaction and i just had the crazy drive to work on my shit day in and day out. It's a good feeling

want to try flax again since apparently there's a way to install it without building from source. Let's hope that version actually works out of the box

yeah no, the more i have to deal with godot's awful glTF support the more i want to jump off a fucking building. I keep trying to use this goddamm engine and every time i just come away more and more disappointed. It's so incredibly frustrating.

it's like, i woke up all excited going "oh yeah i can finally start working on another LD project" and godot is like "no, we're going to force you to manually remake all 10 materials in your blender scene cause we can't properly read the glTF materials, because fuck you'.

Was doing this doodle and kept running into problems with godot adding in an HDRI really does change things, need to learn how to make one at some point i've found some solutions for the problems i was having but it took a ton of time away from sketching, which is annoying

fucking around with more light settings stuff. One misconception i had is that you needed to have SDFGI enabled for shadows to be casted, but that's not true at all and you can just do all this with just the default light settings. Runs at a stable 120 FPS too!

The autistic community and allies share support for science with the new Independent Autism Coordinating Committee but many of us have concerns about its little autistic representation and its priorities. Membership will be discussed - first meeting in 20 minutes. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026...

That said, profound autism is not scientifically validated but proposed for policy (toward segregation+?) rather than scientific reasons, as Zoe Gross of @autisticadvocacy.org and I said. “Despite efforts, no independent research teams have been able to identify valid subtypes of autism." 2/

another blender mapping tip - the quickest vanilla way to call Follow Active Quads is Right Click + F in the UV panel. it lets you continue a tiling texture from active face to newly extruded walls if the active face is not a rectangle just make it into one by running Unwrap on it first

So this is it, after building a small scene i feel i have better control on things like scene creation with Anvil, and how to add stuff like lightmapping and post-processing. Next time i post a map it should have actual textures.

alright, gonna give myself a break before diving back in. I feel i'm going at a good pace which is why i don't want to burn out early. I'm dealing with a lot of unfamiliar stuff here and i don't want to get overwhelmed or burned out so soon.

While doing further testing/building on Anvil, i wanted to figure out how to use Godot's LightmapGI, this ended up being a lengthy process to figure out since i was unfamiliar with the process of creating a second UV map for blender objects. However i think the end result speaks for itself.

spending some more time experimenting with Anvil with godot's wonderful Cogito addon. Still figuring out basic measurements for things like doors and whatnot.

Hey. Tell people when they do good job. When you like the stuff they make. When you like the characters they’ve created. The stories they’ve told. Nobody hears it as often as you think bc everyone thinks everyone hears it all the time. Trust. They don’t. Tell. Them.

actually nevermind the cut tool problem, turns out i was just using it wrong. It's still amazing though to be able to use all the edit mode tools with the grid, just awesome tool overall
