If you're actively mapping Flock cameras for deflock.org, this site provides some useful data about where to look if either your local city/PD won't reveal the locations, or for cameras under private contract such as HOAs/retail. 👉 flocksurveillance.org NB. This data won't be updated over time.

"If your city council and police department put cameras all over your area, I would hedge my bets that they didn't ask their community how they felt about surveillance because they didn't think they had to... And now that's changing." 💯

Redmond City Council voted to terminate the Flock contract on July 21 & were told it would take 70-90 days for removal. It was a slow trickle of maybe 2-3 cameras per week once it started. In the end, the last of them were removed on October 14, after almost a year of being suspended.

What happens when a city cancels its Flock mass surveillance contract? It turns out that nothing happens (for quite a while anyway), so city police disconnected the cameras. It is just not in Flock's interest to take down the cameras. www.thedrive.com/news/my-city...

2/2 Council questioning. Concerns were raised over: - ongoing costs - the program being housed within the police dept. - privacy (as exemplified by the unpopular Flock surveillance deployment) - the vendor (Axon, which likely implies Fusus integration) - city vs county vs state www.dedrone.com 😩

Major concerns remain around police use of "drone as first responder" (DFR) programs. Once a surveillance infrastructure is established, someone will always come up with new use cases for it... During the Q2 police activity report on 7/21, CM Soni suggested *proactive* drone patrols!! 😩
