I liked this game a lot; it wasn't great due to some decisions made to always try and keep it close, but it was one of the better MOBA knockoffs and it sucks to see it go.

Either they found some other copy he made and hid for all time or Somebody Fucked Up here. That's not the same painting!

From NY Times article on newly-reopened Goya Museum in Spain: If I already had plenty of reason to dislike "immersive" art experiences, looks like for this projected image they inexplicably tweaked the colors in Goya's famed "Third of May" painting. Why..?? Art museums get ever closer to Disneyland

I don't like the idea that it 'ran its course" in so much you can always tell other stories there, but the thing about Mass Effect is that the universe itself is just not that special. It's a rubber forehead scifi universe that doesn't really distinguish itself, what grabbed me are the characters.

Julianna 💎@batariangal.eurosky.social

Always bugs me a little when people talk about “letting IPs run their natural course” in relation to Mass Effect. Like, sorry, if you can’t picture a wealth of new stories to tell in that universe, that’s a failure of imagination on your part

If I could snap my fingers and get the band back together I wouldn't say "make be ME4" any more than just figure out something new and good.

Reuters: US JUSTICE DEPARTMENT CHARGES FORMER FBI DIRECTOR JAMES COMEY WITH TRANSMITTING NATIONAL DEFENSE INFORMATION IN 2016 -COURT DOCUMENT

So Klara and the Sun being awful seems overdetermined, but that means I need to pick from Resident Evil, Wildwood, and Clayface for the week at da movies. Anyone got strong opinions?

My current stance is that AI can write "page turner fanfiction" levels at best but also the gatekeepers of taste have been revealed to have no clothes.

Zach Weinersmith@zachweinersmith.bsky.social

a) that award committees aren't so smart b) that award committees don't care about quality c) that ai can write good fiction (honestly not my impression, but I've never tried to convince one to write a book) d) that it's all relative, and a crapshoot, and ai is just more crapshoot entries

I really don't like the "AI can't make emotions" because generally authors are not saying "Robot write me a story" but doing a pretty intense back and forth. It just still comes out very obviously LLM written because they have such huge tells

Obama: "That well-known evil empire Canada. That historical adversary of ours. Canada! *laughs* It's your neighbor. It's a few minutes' drive over the bridge! These are the people who gave us Martin Short and maple syrup. They are the nicest people! And someone we've gotten them so mad."

The film makes a very good argument that one of two things is true A. Holmes is not a conscious actor, incapable of understanding herself or others, perhaps a Terminator loaded up with ChatGPT 4o and sent back in time to scam old men, a next token predictor on Low Reasoning Or

I felt a bit vindicated by a former BioWare dev who said BioWare's mistake was not just pushing out new stories with basically same systems. YES. Stop reinventing the wheel and just give us good stories. Somehow BioWare didn't want to be the story games company, which is what it was.

Going to give my own takeaway on the demise of Bioware, which still makes me very sad. The TLDR: Bioware was not killed suddenly by a private equity acquisition. It was slowly strangled by idiots who didn't understand what made Bioware great - some at EA but also some inside of Bioware leadership

What destroyed Bioware was *incredible internal dysfunction" folks, it wasn't whatever bullshit you're on today. EA didn't help but they literally couldn't ship a hit even when they got out of the way.

You can tell a story about how relying on crunch destroyed them from the inside out I suppose but that's again, internal managerial issues

Okay this is how we are freed from the curse of posting though

the most common insane one is “you should take the site down for 3 months and fix it by hand”. ok, should *every* website do that? and, idk, during those 3 months might AI advance a smidge? maybe find 30 new exploits. JUST TAKE IA DOWN FOR ANOTHER 12 MONTHS OF COURSE.

Checked out the new Steam NextFest and was very excited to see a Mech Commander clone... until I boot it up and it's all AI Art Assets. Come the fuck on, I am perfectly happy if the backend is all vibes but show the player a little respect with the talking heads
