3D printed sliding nut rails prototype - not bad, but definitely needs some kind of solution for mounting to the sides other than friction fit, and either channels for the nuts or a little nut holder tool to go with it. VERY fiddly to get fully assembled, but I think could be sturdy when full.

I somehow need the best of both worlds. I like my idea of channels open to the outside of the case to add nuts arbitrarily, and I like that there is no way for the nuts to fall inside the assembly, but I need to somehow add mounting points and I don't really know how.

There is physical space in the case for hardware, but currently the back face of the rail you're looking at here is that piece's first layer. Being flat on the bed is how the holes come out so clean but if course you can't print "below the bed". Little L-brackets maybe?

Trouble is I'm not sure how to add an end mount without dealing with bridging/supports. The big plus of this at the moment is both parts are printed flat on the bed lengthwise, with perimeters making the screw holes quite strong, and just a 45 degree overhang for the joining groove, no supports.

This other design I downloaded a while ago has the long face going front to back, not vertically along the module case. Advantage: can print it deep and add captive nuts for mounting to the ends securely, disadvantages: the two halves flex and the sliding nuts fall in

I strongly dislike it in games when I'm handed a checklist of things to do or collect and not all of them are collectible yet. Currently playing through Psychonauts 2 and Indiana Jones and both are guilty of this.

I find myself going in circles because I need to progress the main story before I can finish a side quest, but am refusing to progress the main story *until* I've cleared the side quest. Many of my neurodivergent quirks have softened as I've aged but my brain seems to stubbornly see games as a...

Scavenger hunt in Psychonauts 2. I can only assume I can't access all the items yet because I've scoured everywhere I can scour. Ancient idols and other various map markers in Indiana Jones being visible whilst physically located somewhere I can't yet get to.

Us perfectionists will try to clear a checklist when given one. Either don't do that, and dole them out gently, or find a way to signpost "you aren't meant to be able to get all of these yet, don't stress yourself out trying". They're already riddled with icons, add a cross to inaccessible ones?

This is somebody's cue to make a new kickass dekotora game 🚛💥 (and hire me to make a ridiculous ass-haulin' hard-truckin' soundtrack)

How are there not more dekotora video games? About all I knew was the dekotora option in Sega's 18 Wheeler: American Pro Trucker game

Like fuck is she going to "do herself in injury". She's not pulling her own hair, grabbing her own limbs, and trying to hit herself with a crutch, is she? That's your supporters, your fucking disgusting, reprehensible shit-stain of a human being.

I can't tell if worse might have gone on before in the obscured melee, but the bit where what appears to be an elderly couple brutally yanking this young woman's hair to try and beat her in the face with a crutch is just a genuinely horrific distillation of current UK politics.

Never been able to get this much of it on one desk before! Now I just need the time to actually use it. And maybe rethink the number of sequencers I have; the KSP is a bit redundant sat next to a Hapax and a powerful Befaco MIDI to CV converter. And fix the spring reverb. And finish the DIY kits.

In terms of raw productivity I was definitely finishing more tracks in Renoise with softsynths. But I'm having more fun with this lot, and still haven't properly kicked the tyres on multi-tracking/layering it into a DAW with a "real" audio timeline yet.

yo dawg i heard you like waiting so i put a hiatus in your hiatus so you can wait while you wait (house move incoming. big modular dismantled back into two halves; decksavers, cling film, bubble wrap, storage unit. godspeed, blep.)

but hey, in the new place, my gear will at least be in the house itself rather than relegated to a garden room! that'll be something. will i get to use it more? will i ever finish a piece of music ever again? tune in next quarter, on "is phil still alive?"

Happy late 303 day! Memento Potato's cover is now made entirely in GIMP; no AI. It also has two more tracks: I finally uploaded Halcyon Days, and added Reflux, a gnarly, nasty little acid track, a rough mix of which debuted on Benn Jordan's 303 day acid stream. #acid #303day #tb303

Six voices of polyphony, DX7 patch compatibility, runs off a guitar pedal PSU (*technically. If you add a polarity inverter and barrel jack size adapter, which having splurged on a nice clean multi pedal PSU, I'd be tempted to do), for under £120? Tempting... I didn't know Volcas had this power

Switch from Renoise to Reaper + Hapax is going well so far. Rebuilt a WIP track; getting external gear going. MIDI clock routed DAW - Hapax - MIDI Thing V2 - Model:Cycles. Audio from M:C and DAW into the modular, where headphones live, so I can sequence modular & drums on Hapax and monitor the lot.

If I can figure out how the hell MIDI works on the SP404 MKII, I should be able to sequence that from the Hapax as well. I really want to try sending the audio from M:C into the 404 then have its mix of drums, samples, and FX all sequenced from one surface and recorded together.

I love all the sounds of the M:C and the FX of the 404 (and its sound is... well, it's a sampler, so whatever I load onto it), but both of their built in sequencers pale in comparison to the workflow of the Hapax, and it has FOUR. MIDI. OUTPUTS.

With a few mults, I can have DAW audio going out to be monitored, and route up to 4 channels of audio simultaneously back into the DAW for recording, AND into the monitoring mix with zero latency. So I can grab takes from the modular, drum machine, SP404 etc whilst hearing what's already laid down.

what I had planned: start learning Reaper, rebuilding a WIP track from Renoise, because I think that'll make it much easier to work with externally-recorded audio (I now have quite a lot of physical gear) what I actually did: re-organise modules so that one row of my case isn't dead

oh and I have a Hapax now, because I got tired of how buggy the Keystep Pro is, and wanted a sequencer that isn't rigidly grid-locked without just going back to sequencing everything in-the-box. haven't had it long, but so far I love it

yes, I'm still alive; yes I'm still "working" on the "album". both in scare quotes because either myself or my toddler have been ill since October (the two not being mutually exclusive), and coherency won't be its strong point given all the workflow changes and breaks I've had to take

TBH this album was always supposed to comprise whatever I manage to record whilst building up my external gear collection & figuring out how to work with it, so that part is arguably going according to plan next one should hopefully be an Album, but might also be a year or two out at this point.
