Over the last several days I've heard directly from parents who are scared and outraged about the PPS proposals for closure of their schools. They are calling for action from their elected officials at all levels. Today I have filed an emergency that responds to the urgency of these calls. 🧵

We need to pause this process – not one school should close before we fully explore our options to fully fund education. My office will do everything in its power to help. We need to retain and attract young families to Portland, and we can start by saving our schools. (1/2)

3 hours ago the Brazilian Supreme Court rejected any challenge to the election results. Just now Flavio Bolsonaro has dropped his objections. Lula is President it cannot be stopped, and Flavio Bolsonaro will be going on trial for corruption. And then to jail.

Similar: you can tell which churches accept queer people because they're very explicit about it—unambiguous wording on their wesbite/signs, rainbow/Pride flags, etc. If a church doesn't say "We love queer people," then you can safely conclude that they don't.

PSA for cis folks: if a democrat goes on camera and answers a question about trans rights without making an explicit statement supporting trans rights, they're anti-trans

"whose first languages aren't that common" While I could point at how Korean and Japanese get SEVERELY slanged if you run those with Grok, I'll use my first language priveldge and point out that machine translation on Brazilian has made Lula sound WAAAAY HORNIER Than what he usually sounds like.

I'm convinced that liberals think it's only transphobia when you use the T-slur or physically harm trans people, and everything else is just "concerns." Like using the N-word is racism, but crossing the street when a Black man is walking toward you isn't somehow.

it is very funny that "queer leftists" get this reputation of being above voting or whatever because my wife and I fill our ballots out with enough reverence it feels like it is a religious ceremony

I am eating a burger and fries at a local diner in this small Washington town. This burger is perfectly fine, but there is something about the overall flavor that is invoking memories of eating at the Kmart luncheonette as a child. Wild thing to re-experience.

Also every burger and fries I eat now is like, an *event*, which is definitely better for my health but it also makes each one special now. 💖🍔🍟 💖

This isn't hyperbole or a joke. Parents actually called the cops and got the black boy and his family removed and the league claimed they were trespassing because he was "putting on a show" and wasn't playing "fair."

They called the cops on this 3-year-old Black boy because he was kickin the white kids' ass on the soccer field.

People aren't betting based on what they think the outcome will be—they're betting on what they think they'll make more money. As a result, seeing how others are or aren't currently betting influences their own bets, which corrupts any prediction data.

Brazil elected Lula again tonight. Poll averages appear to have had Lula and Flávio Bolsonaro effectively tied, maybe Bolsonaro up 1 on Lula — so not sure why the markets had this race at 80-20 Bolsonaro. Markets might miss big in the U.S. midterms in 9 days too.

Do these bettors truly believe their chosen outcome is the most likely? The answer lies somewhere between "No" and "Who the fuck can ever know."

I understand the impulse, but I really don't think "Look at this bad thing this bad person said somewhere else" is a very productive or useful form of Bluesky post. Ultimately I think you're just highlighting it and giving it more reach.

If I ask I director "What time is class today?" and they have to look it up on their computer before they can answer, maybe your school's weekly class schedule scheme is too fucking complicated.
