One time, [FRIEND] who worked at [STUDIO] showed me [THING] from [MOVIE] and told me they literally rescued it from the trash. That's a separate issue but the point is these hoarders don't want to preserve shit and they don't know how to care for what they've swallowed up

someone should feed the ellisons a big cartoon bomb that sits all round in their bellies with the fuse sticking out of their mouth and then light it and make them watch while it runs down and explodes

people who know me know i will never shut up about this but every thing in every game should be optional and skippable because a scene in a game should be as immediately playable as a scene in a movie and this is actually a necessary step to games being accessible and mainstream as art

you might not wanna play chess so you can engage in a movie with choices. choices are what make a game a game, so let the intent of your experience be known, show them what the "uncompromised" vision is, and let them decide for themselves how they want it delivered.

and finally shout out to tactical breach wizards for being one of the best games i've ever played and allowing you to skip literally any content you want, making a case in point that nothing is lost by allowing options

also yes it's stupid that From games are always the prime target for these discussions, but hey stop being stubborn, miyazaki. and while i'm ranting i'll add, we all accept game cutscenes being skippable even though they can be the most intentionally directed part of a game, because we recognize -

that most games have lousy stories or unnecessary stories to the experience of the gameplay, or its just not what you're in the mood for when you want to be pressing buttons that engage in an activity. you don't wanna watch exposition to play a round of chess. but the opposite applies too,

people cite getting stuck in dark souls and overcoming as part of the experience, but it isn't for people who are good enough. if dark souls allowed difficulty options for those people, it'd actually be closer to the intent. but this would mean creating the option, and opens the possibility -

of lower difficulties too, and that chaffs people. but it shouldn't because games are more than one thing. games are art and games are a game and in the game itself is an art gallery. anyone should be able to browse the art gallery that are the vistas in elden ring

compromise happens in production. skipping a movie scene in your own home does not compromise the work of art. muting a game or turning the soundtrack off does not compromise it either. it changes your own experience only, and that is fine. needs are different. for example, i want games that are -

so hard that most people can't finish them. but that can't exist without options to lower the difficulty or skip sections entirely if it is to be a commercial product. refusal to budge on accessibility actually limits what the art can do and try, because unlike a movie, you can get stuck.

being against this because it isn't for you or you wouldn't use it or even think it's dumb is fundamentally being selfish and overly protective about the concept of the shared experience which is only scary to lose if you're fragile about your connections to others. a meal is shared even when -

different side dishes are eaten in different portions, even if the main is sparsely touched by someone. and the idea of protecting artistic integrity is fundamentally false because the artistic integrity of a complete, finished project can never be compromised after its been delivered -

despite hyperfixed being a podcast where every ep is a unique problem and thus a new story, i have enjoyed every one of them. which is a feat so hard to pull off that you should give them money about it, and thus give me more episodes. i am nice. alex is also nice.

We are about half way to our listener goals, so if you can share with your friends, the more listeners the more ad revenue. And if we can get 1300 more premium subscribers, I can give my staff raises and give them healthcare. We have some bangers in the chamber I’m so excited to share. Thank you.

look if you're a politician with access to trump and you read "i'm about to commit genocide" and your response to that is not to arrange a private meeting in which you can do the thing, you're complicit in what comes next

i am sick of this situation where the fucking president can announce his plans for murder but you cannot even suggest what should happen to save those lives

With Hat Atelier is, no exaggeration, one of the most mesmerizing comics out there. Kamome Shirahama isn't "good at drawing" - she has great technical skill, yes, but she controls the flow like no one else, comes up with imagery that projects a world, and roots all of it in the themes of her series

samurai champloo is perfect in its animated form. its a complete story told beautifully. wanting to make or watch this says to me you don't respect animation or take it seriously, that you are not a person who has dreams or a soul. this will be a tv show for husks. perish.

FPTP voting *always* pushes overton to the right because of how authoritarianism functions. if one side effectively has an eternal locked in base & the other side just has to be not as bad as the other guys (but ofc still have same power incentives), the other side is incentivized to keep things bad
