"What bitrate should I export my mp4s in?" I used to wonder this until I found a formula in an old PDF that an Adobe employee created over 15 years ago. I turned it into a little calculator for everyone to use: bitratecalculator.app
Hello fellow motion graphics people! I'm looking for Beta Testers! I'm working on a plugin for After Effects that helps you quickly cycle through different versions of shots in your AE comps. If you wanna get involved check out discord.gg/rESzCpds for more info and the DL link
I've made this handy little website, that helps you calculate the best bitrate for your H.264 video exports from @adobelive.bsky.social/Premiere/@maxonvfx.bsky.social etc. bitratecalculator.app Any feedback is welcome!
In @sidefx.bsky.social Houdini, is there a shortcut that releases a node from the node-tree (like when you shake it free)? Sometimes the shaking doesn't work as I wish it would so just pressing a key would be so much easier.

NEW WORK! This is an extract of a music visualisation piece I did for Nik BΓ€rtsch and Ronin for the documentary Ingredients For Disaster (OUT NOW!) Full project: simonfarussell.com/Nik-Bartsch Made in Houdini and AE @sidefx.bsky.social
I really hope this will change in the future otherwise bluesky is dead on arrival for motion graphics people :(
Right now the working limits is 60 seconds, <50MB, and the streamed resolution from the CDN to start will be two options, 360p@500kbps and 720p@1500kbps. Videos will get framerates downsampled to 30fps. "Original" versions which get stored on the PDS will be 3mbps, 1080p, 30fps.
I know my reach is very limited here but are there any fellow motion designers or designers in general from Devon/Cornwall on here? I'm sharing an office with the wonderfully talented @simonfarussell.bsky.social, @haxiomic.bsky.social and @callumcannarella.bsky.social down/up in Plymouth!
Here's a still in 4k resolution to show how the compression (in my previous post) mangles the output. I was hoping @bsky.app would have better media compression that Tw*tter tbh
You are up to date.
