Can seabirds and forests help tropical islands adapt to rising seas? New research from ECI’s @ymalhi.bsky.social shows how seabirds, forests and coral reefs build resilience. ⬇️https://www.eci.ox.ac.uk/news/restoring-seabirds-and-native-forests-could-help-tropical-islands-adapt-climate-change

Seabirds bring in nutrients that fertilise vegetation and reef, native vegetation locks in sediments, and the island grows. Seeing atolls as integrated geo-ecological systems shows how island rewilding creates climate resilience. Nice to see this wonderful project culminate in this publication...

🌿 How can community science help us understand the benefits of nature? New Oxford research shows it’s already contributing useful evidence, especially on biodiversity, but important gaps remain. Better support could help connect local knowledge with decision-making.

Ivy isn't a 'parasite', and it doesn't 'strangle' trees. Instead, it's a massively important natural part of forest ecosystems, providing food and shelter to a great range of animal inhabitants. But also, it's *beautiful*.
