Airbnb went from a cheap way to crash in a spare bedroom or rent a vacation house for a weekend and turned into "what if hotels openly hated you and acted like they were doing you a favor by letting you give them hundreds of dollars to stay there, and also it's more expensive"

Airbnb is banning its hosts from making guests do things like “stripping the bed, taking trash offsite, or washing and putting away dishes.” The hosts....are not taking it well: www.wired.com/story/airbnb...

(Sarcasm font) now I don’t have to go to Tijuana to get my West Side Story fix (/end sarcasm font)

A 68-year-old federal law that bans the manufacturing of switchblades for sale or distribution across state lines violates the Second Amendment, the 5th Circuit ruled last night. www.reuters.com/legal/govern...

today is the heavenly birthday (1854) of Oscar Wilde. He knew the importance of being earnest, and in my fave of his works (De Profundis), he characterised Jesus as a romantic ARTIST. These public domain portraits were made by Napoleon Sarony in NYC

This is so fucked up and would be illegal if we had more Democrats like FDR (and Liz Warren).

NBC News gathered nine volunteers to check the same StubHub ticket at the same time for Harry Styles’ Oct. 30 concert. They saw eight different prices.

I'd give her the King James Bible PLUS Umberto Eco's collection of essays, MISREADINGS which includes his satiric review of it as if it were a novel

If you could recommend one book to someone as their very first read ever, what would it be?

I read about this on @literaryhub.bsky.social and thought 1) Alix's image looks like she is an AI creation 2) If she's real, there's NO WAY she's never read a book 3) I don't think Lit Hub is clickbait prone but... 4) I feel like we're all being fooled - but by whom and for what reason, I don't know

The only press coverage Trump should get right now is coverage of how he's banning the press. Nothing else. None of what he wants them to talk about. Just coverage of his anti-American, anti-first amendment authoritarianism. Then go back to covering the results of his disastrous policies.

During Punk Rock, Lobotomy locked ourselves in the bathroom to interview Blondie. Debbie mused about "brightly coloured toilet paper." Pleasant & I also met either Siegfried or Roy at the pool (they had a baby tiger). We found a red snapper in the pool too. In 1977 - PEAK Zeppelin IYKYK reference!

and there is a funny story about the 2015 photo of Mr Hitchcock & me. A lady backstage at Elvis's Ascend Amphitheater show kept INSISTING Robyn was Elvis. I kept insisting he was The Man With The Light Bulb Head; then I asked my friend to make this absurd pic. Looking ridiculous WAS the point!
