In a way, it's not surprising that the ruling class mocks and devalues Art while desperately trying to use AI to imitate it. Two of art's most important ingredients are empathy, which is taught is weakness: and failure, which wealth & privilege shields them from. These two things can't be bought.

It's official, I'm the new store manager of Hobby Lords Frankston! It was an opportunity I just couldn't pass up to help launch the Flagship Hobby Lords Australia store. We've got an amazing location and incredible team and I'm excited for everyone to finally see what we're building together 🥰

And I owe an apology of sorts to @ageofwarlords.bsky.social who asked if I was going to find a new hobby store to run: this opportunity was totally out of the blue. A huge hobby chain opening a flagship less than 20 minutes from my house in the same month I was looking for work??? Unbelievable!

This is why I've been quiet all month. Long days of staff-hiring and shop-fitting and 3 separate floods. But we pulled it off! Opening night saw over 1000 people coming in to welcome us. And it's just beginning.

An emotionally tough day of the store being packed up, was made much easier by seeing Electric Callboy at the end! Got to the front row, and it was amazing fun; worth almost getting roasted by the pyrotechnics. EC did Backstreet Boys covers and a shoey. So fun. So stupid. Perfect night 🥰

My friend took much better photos, like this one with Kevin, which would have been better if I didn’t have that green lady's VB jacket in my mouth at the time. Sadly didn’t get a photo with major short-king crush Nico, but I did get a hug-handshake which was amazing 🥰

Well it wasn’t quite perfect. I had to walk by 3 men being gross to me at the train station. I know my body looks a certain way, and I really can't have the energy to let how people[men] feel about it, be my problem. But I was not 10 minutes out from home and felt like I needed to shower & change😮‍💨

Last day vs First day running my Warhammer Store! It's hard to believe after 13 years, this part of my journey is at an end; but I couldn’t be more greatful for all my co-workers and customers (aka my CheltenHammers) And as I move on to what's next, the Grim Darkness will live forever in my heart🖤

NGL I've been signing off with "Cheltenham broke before the CheltenHammers did" and it's made me tear up a couple of times 🥹

And helped me find my love of writing! I started writing army fluff for friends going to tournaments, to unofficial fanfiction, to a post-grad degree & my first trad publication this year! I still hold a flicker of hope that one day, maybe my name on the front of a Black Library book.

Thinking about how much working my Warhammer store has helped me evolve as a person. My lanyard made me feel like I had a reason people had to respect me, and it freed me up to be myself. My weird little self who has been described as a mix of Kaylee from Firefly and Aubry Plaza in P&R.

This week I'd flash an unapologetic smile to leaving customers and say "Goodbye Forever!" 😁 Being a weird grim chirpy gremlin because it's who I've always been, which running my own store allowed me to be.

1 down, 4 to go 🥲 Had a few people drop by to say goodbye & wish me well. Both the tobacco lady I buy coke no sugar from, and the Indian restaurant gave me free stuff. Wrote a mass internal email titled "Telling you all what I really think of you/goodbye." Feeling a little sad and a lot loved 🥰

Had a fantastic redundancy dinner with some of the other Victorian Warhammer state managers & my casual. Had to fight to buy my own drinks and got a very sweet gift & signed card. Buddies forever but I'm going to miss them all so much 🥲😭😭🥰

It was very sweet. The Melbourne manager who ran my store before it moved out of the shopping centre, said that it was impressive & surprising we stayed open as long as we did considering the area. Feeling quite validated at that 🖤

There was a privately owned (non-blockbuster) one that was our usual as kids. It had this cool upstairs balcony bit that had all the kung-fu & horror movies. As an adult, I now know it was also the porno section. It was like 85% porn. No wonder the dudes up there looked at 8-year old me, terrified.

I've been really sceptical of IQ measurements since when I was about 14, I took one that said my IQ was 186. And I was like "idk I think I'm just super into online quizzes right now and know how tests work (...partly due to my practice on quizzes to decide if I should marry Aragorn or Legolas)"

First game on my new game-able PC: Darktide! It has been in my steam library forever, I was just a few specs under being able to play it. I can't stop smiling and thinking "Man...Warhammer is so cool." I really enjoy seeing it from a different perspective, like in games or in our Warhammer+ shows.

As much as I'm sad to be leaving the Games Workshop, I'm excited to rediscover loving Warhammer outside of it being "work." I never stopped loving it, don't get me wrong. But work is work. It's different. I can't wait to see what my psychic space clown & I get up to, inside & outside my screen.

If anyone remembers, a few months ago I lamented not being able to afford a new computer. Then a few weeks ago, out of nowhere, I was informed that a relative who passed over a decade ago, had left some sort of trust that had matured? Long story short: WHEEEEEE!!! I have a new, beautiful friend!

Her name is 3Jane, by the way.

This is clearly a surprise, or else I wouldn't have bought BG3 on PS5 😅 Perhaps the second playthrough will be after justifying buying it a second time on PC.

I can't express how much I needed a new machine. Not even for games, I was beta-reading a friends manuscript the other day & my old girl could not handle running a word processor & youtube playing music It was unusable. This is like a once-in-a-decade+ extravagant purchase. And she's so pretty 🥹

To be clear this isn't a hate-read. King is The King for a reason. I can enjoy something & be critical at the same time I've read Heinlan, K. Dick, Asimov, Lovecraft, Wells, Clarke etc. All men products of their time, to a degree I respect their craft while respecting my own honest reactions to it

I've started audiobooking "IT" and I feel like I am going to have feelings so I am going to put them here. 1st, 86' King really does not like fat people, women or fat women. And so many slurs. So many. 2nd Eddie's wife was an excruciating listen Not to say it's bad, but it was defs written in 86'

Spoiler: It's almost like, "don't worry that Eddie dies. His wife is fat and annoying so he didn’t have much to go back to."
