Ember buses busy today as rail disrupted. A90 north of Perth like a big car wash. Currently 14 mins late but in time to connect with next bus at Dundee Railway Station. Pre-booked stops • Rosyth • Kinross • Bridge of Earn • St Maddoes • Longforgan • Dundee West. Run time 1hr 40min. 🚌 @spokes.org.uk

Final local (school) bus was 5 mins late which was 👍. Then we met a mid size car on the corner at Ballintuim on A924. Resulted in car running late and bus running later. 😆 'Tis the way in Highland Perthshire. People like large vehicles to 'get about' but find journey times increase with width.

ScotRail now running more to time but here's 'live' record of what happened earlier due to capacity on Highland line. Doubling the rail track and electrification would improve this so much and take pressure off A9. Normally 3 hrs. Could be under 2.5 hours. Ember e-bus always over 4 hours daytime.

Thankfully next Ember bus also late. Reliable lateness is next best thing to being on time. Interchange bus stop at Dundee Railway station with a live screen re-assuring. Good load on for the E11 Aberdeen via Braemar route. 👍

Late Mike Burrows... probably the greatest all-round 🚲 designer. Based in Norfolk 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 he designed all types. Spoke to him on phone a few times and LB advertised in BHPC 'Laid Back Cyclist' mag. • 8 Freight cargo ❤️ • Windcheetah trike ❤️ • Giant compact frame ❤️ Check old 'Speed' Guy Martin Ch4 prog.

I’ve met cycling’s greatest designers – forget AI and wind tunnels, it’s people that make the best bikes www.bikeradar.com/features/opi... Why all of the biggest and best advancements in cycling have come from the visionary designers and engineers

"Unlike the car, the e-cargo bike affords a unique sensitivity to the natural world and local environment. This enables parents to train their children in local geography.." Children benefit from seeing how places connect... unlike the 'drive in movie' effect of a car window. (+ screen devices) 📽

Energy Saving Trust Scotland scheme was a game changer back then. EdFoC persuaded them that bikes had their part to play. We actually sold one on scheme, a Circe Helios tandem for parent & child, which had no motor or battery. This might have saved more carbon than an e-bakfiets? 🤔 Pros & cons.

Our experience of hiring out our cargo bike over the last 11 years, is that when people have the opportunity to try a cargo bike, they like it and want to buy one, sadly ScotGov does not seem interested in trying to lower the barriers to cargo bike ownership, this is a massive-missed opportunity.

Open today but may close early. Yesterday had to move a bike frame to our secondary storage near Haymarket. 100% 🌧 drookit. Super intense as also had appointment in Stockbridge. Today was just a card recycle box to BW and a hub pick up. Easy on the UA Breeze. 👍

Sparkling day to be out on the M5 recliner. 37 miles of sitting down with another brief sit down in the Wandering Bear Cafe beside Lintrathen. Did have a scramble to get a pic of the amazing Reekie Linn falls and gorge. Saw four other cyclists 🚴‍♀️ 🚴‍♀️ 🚴‍♀️ 🚴‍♀️ 🌞

Misinformation on a few fronts today. • ITV showed unwanted Rosebank field to west of Shetland but with Orkney showing on map. • Chancellor claimed that oil came ashore to Scotland in the 1980s. Actually discovered in the 1960s and landed in 70s. • Announcement leaked to Sky before Westminster.

The National@scotnational.bsky.social

NEW: The BBC has been accused of showing it 'doesn’t give a toss about Scotland' after incorrectly plotting Aberdeen on a map during coverage of the Jackdaw gas field 🗣️ 'It’s hard to imagine London being dumped in the middle of Cornwall'

Here's that map from last night's News at Ten. Shetland doesn't exist. 😆 'Invisible' Shetland of course cut its own deal with the oil companies to be rewarded for its assets. Scotland got asset stripped.

Can you tell the difference between bringing buses under public control and shooting thousands of your enemies then feeding their corpses to the crocodiles? If so, congratulations, you're officially more perceptive than Sandy Easdale. www.thenational.scot/news/2665005...

"Imagine living in the Highlands without a car." Visited Braemar again with Mrs LB. Nice walk round River Dee & Queen's Drive. Made possible by Ember E11 introduced over a year ago. The Great North of Scotland Railway 'station' was served by 'motorised coach' as railway ended Ballater. (Now closed)

Braemar paths are varied - walking beside Dee is tricky due to erosion. The Queen's Drive is nicely graded and combined this 5+ mile walk fits well into a day visit between buses. Arrive 9.54. Depart 16.39.Time for lunch etc. Plus a whisky in bar at Invercauld beside bus stop as not driving. 😆

LB shop open Saturday as usual tomorrow. UA Breeze went down well at cargo bike fest last Sunday. Other Urban Arrows / cargobikes are available. 👍 Really enjoyed showing off the easy to mount MIK childseat, seat pads and front bag.

• Yesterday we delivered this Czech made Azub trike featuring Bosch CX & Rohloff. • Today we're only open till 11 due to family event. (JBG may be around). Sorry for any inconvenience. • Tomorrow we'll be at the Meadows from 11 till 2pm. Meet up with existing and future customers. Details in poster.

2026 street 'furniture' in Marchmont is changing. • New 'smart' post boxes from privatised Royal Mail company. ✉️ 💌 (Using correct Scottish crown with no royal initials here of course!) • VOI city rental bike park and van man replenishing batteries. Arguably city's biggest public transport upgrade.

Can't beat a cargo bike fly by. St Peter's Place still closed at junction but bikes can get through cones with care or access canal via the ramp. Open today for all flavours of Urban Arrow and more. 🍧 🍨 Repairs and maintenance during week by Joe's Bike Garage. Details on our homepage.

There's something lovely when all three buses we rely on (71+E11+E1) run late at same time. 😆 Means plenty of time to cross the many highways around Dundee! Lovely evening for travelling electric (first 7 miles diesel). Trip up had two bikes booked on board. One E-bike, one manual. @spokes.org.uk

Mobile sun beds are(n't) trending! 🌞 But... the two or three wheeled reclined format allows a solar array to go where it needs to. A decade of Voyage Solaire events prove it can be done. Just saw someone zoom by on a Solar powered recumbent e-bike, clearly homemade. I barely got a photo before he was away. Just commuting to work in Chippenham I think? Legend.

Q. How low can you go? Last decade we shifted quite a few of these red metallic folding Sprint 26 models from Inspired Cycle Engineering (Not yet on BlueSky 😞). Still available in 2026 with or without a motor. A. Around 25cm seat height with excellent stability and visibility. (Model for sale)

Good to see Labour MSPs agreeing with the SNP and Greens on this. Sad to see the Liberal Democrats actually voted against Scotland's right to decide!👎 This from a party that once believed in home rule and currently enthuses on rejoining the European Union ! 🇪🇺

The National@scotnational.bsky.social

An overwhelming number of MSPs have backed a motion affirming that Scotland has a right to decide its constitutional future. See how they all voted 👇 👉 www.thenational.scot/news/2...

Cargo Bike Carnival, a fun day celebrating cargo bikes: games, stalls, best-dressed bike competition, and a world record attempt. This will be a day out for all the family to showcase how fantastic cargo bikes are for getting around the city, whatever you might need to carry.

On Wed lots of other two wheelers on A93 to Braemar. (54miles round trip). Recliner = low energy = comfort, plus only fun road bike I have 😆! Steepest bit slow but Strava average. Downhill rapido. Av 14.5mph twice by Glenshee Ski. Well done to Peak Tour LeJoG riders 80 mile ride slogging up north.

Signs of renewables are everywhere in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 . Signs of renewal less so. Perth station must be one of the most decrepit city stations on ScotRail's network? One access ramp closed this morning. Leaky gutters and general neglect. Too many diesel trains surrounded by surplus electricity.

Yesterday was helping at a big horse + People's Procession event from Holyrood Park up the High Street. Spotted a couple of our cargo bikes, taking families into park. Shop UA can also be seen parked in last shot. Ideal for keeping extras & packed lunch! Spent day being asked about buses & toilets!

The Kettwiesel just got bigger and more sociable. LB have been Edinburgh dealers for this innovative German marque since 2010. Currently have their other Pino tandem on order. 🇩🇪

Yesterday caught up with one of our reclined trike users (with e-assist) & joined them for an 18 mile cycle into Glen Isla. Coffee & cake at the Glenshee (Lair) Cafe. Cycled 15 miles to cafe at 17mph av + 7.5 miles back 19mph av. M5 CHR a lot of fun to use. Non electric but low energy (sometimes!).

Yesterday had to do a pick up at the Western and drop off a gluten free prescription for Mrs LB. • The day before it too over 30 mins to do the journey one way using a No. 22 bus with short walk. 🚌 • Yesterday it took half the time on the shop e-cargo, including a detour to Tollcross pharmacy.⚡️🚲 👍
