At the @spacing.bsky.social Election Watch Party, sat in a room full of people I talk to every day, but have never met in person. Very cool to finally meet @dylanreid.bsky.social and @damienmoule.bsky.social! Bonus photo of @anotherglassbox.bsky.social. YESSSS HE MADE THE SHIRT
Picked out my outfit for the party tn. See yall at Pauper’s or on the live stream for @spacing.bsky.social’s watch party.
Chris (of Toronto the Politics the Show) pulled the Bradjak fanslop up on livestream last night and I completely lost composure—an image that really sums up this election for me on some many levels. We’ll be reacting to results at @spacing.bsky.social’s party tonight, going live around 7pm

Fascinating.
Over on The Other Site, the City is being attacked for posting two men pushing a stroller. Tobi and suggested that a Bradford mayoralty would result in a city wouldn’t post that kind of content I dared to ask why and have been getting bombarded, but nothing compared to what City staff is getting.

A single property owner on Bathurst refused to sell for the Mirvish Village/Honest Ed’s development. Here’s how it’s been integrated into the pedestrian street component.
Not only did the City have to lock replies, the wife of Stephen Miller, Trump’s Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy, took the time to mock the move. We have people, including a local tech leader, throwing the city under the bus for American culture war nonsense.
I saw it on the other other site (Facebook) and the city had to edit the post with a whole thing about how they were locking comments because of "numerous violations of the city's social media terms of use"
On the way to work for the last 20 days, I've documented myself picking up trash and the special moments I encounter along the way. I am very proud of this little experiment--not because it's been a popular series, but because of what it's doing for me danseljak.substack.com/p/i-am-learn...
They’re sharing @gracingthestage.bsky.social over on Twitter like a hero of yore…guys he’s not dead he’s just on this site

Matt is right: Chris Alexander’s withdrawal speech DOES read like a poem. Thank you @hausofdecline.bsky.social for an incredible night and backing track and @edwardrow.com for recording.
Chris Alexander’s full statement announcing that he is stepping aside from the mayoral race. It kind of reads like a poem, which I did not expect.
The point of this project is that it's impossible to achieve a "win" state; the boulder just rolls down the hill the next day. But the before/after shots are still quite satisfying.
I've started my third week of Never the Same River, my daily POV photo/detrash walk series. Here's a little preview of the newly uploaded September 30 vid, featuring a surprise @mikelayton.bsky.social cameo.

Fascinating UofT School of Cities project on the correlation between neighbourhood characteristics and mayoral vote over the last few decades. Looking at the strongest positive correlations for Olivia Chow voting areas in 2023 sure tells a tale. schoolofcities.github.io/place-and-po...
Also of note—when building this thing I tried to engage the platform’s AI assistant and it flat out refused on a community safety and “manipulating public opinion” basis. Should give you some idea of what Bradford’s team IS NOT taking into consideration.
I am excited to announce that I will be launching a new service that will generate handcrafted analogue pro-Bradford responses on request. You simply enter the URL of a post by Brad, Chow, or Alexander and your email. Then I will send you a JPG to post with a bespoke response.
Was also galvanised by John Wilson featuring this sand mandala in The History of Concrete which I saw this week. Part of me has been seeing detrashing as futile, but as I've been feeling about my other activism, maybe the outcome isn't the point. www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ov4...

Next week, we're returning to Etobicoke to close out Liminal Assembly's Loiterfest. Dinner at the base of an office tower. A walk past a dead mall. Karaoke at a prison-themed bar. It all kicks off Sept 30 at Kipling Station wygo.world/loiter-s-end...
