With all due respect, the staff of this he Wire and their plausible-deniability compatriots have been on her team for a decade and a half.

Steve Collins@stevecollinsyji.bsky.social

One of the saddest developments of this year’s U.S. Senate campaign in Maine has been watching Susan Collins, a senator once renowned for civility and decency, embrace the Maine Wire’s sickening racism and vulgar politics. www.pressherald.com/2026/10/26/s...

I recall that crew straight up making shit up about me when I made a video about Michaud because I used a song that contained a “vulgar” reverence to Collins back in 2012. This included a Collins staffer who himself gleefully shared the song a few weeks prior.

There is a toxic nostalgia a lot of folks generously glob on to Collins that exists in part because a skilled propaganda and reputation laundered my campaign and also because it exonerates those who did not resist her bullshit back when it was nakedly evident.

I finally got around to reading Anton Jäger's Hyperpolitics: Extreme Politicization Without Political Consequences and I really think you should read Anton Jäger's Hyperpolitics: Extreme Politicization Without Political Consequences.

Had to sit VERY FRONT ROW for You Can See Everything because of ticket availability and seeing those close ups THAT close is not advisable.

Just had to call a subject and use the term “vag out” when clearing whether or not to include a photo of them in our upcoming photo show and the Row Your Boat people were really on to something when they said life is but a dream.

I suddenly know a bunch of folks new to the app game who have... built an app that does... something. Or a series of somethings. The elevator pitches for said somethings are convoluted and three meandering caveat-laden paragraphs long.

Not exactly a long-term growth strategy.

Scoop from @brettlogiurato.bsky.social: CBS has sold its local election night coverage to DraftKings, stirring more controversy inside the David Ellison-owned company. Details in @status.news: www.status.news/p/cbs-draftk...

Somebody posted a bit of Kurt's journals in the Nirvana subreddit today and wanted to know if it was real. A bunch of people said no, but it WAS (somebody photocopied the original page for proof) and it turns out the bit posted was AI upscaled and the upscale changed words.

The thing that was a red flag for many, including me, is the upscale changed Kurt's use of "opiate" to "opioid", which is a word nobody could recall being in popular use in the 1990s. At some point everything will get transmogrified through some unnecessary AI lens.

NEW EPISODE! In which we discuss 1970s masculinity, the redneck nightmare genre, and Deliverance with Carolyn Kendrick and Tristan Scroggins.

It's objectively funny to be like "It only cost $1.5 million but it COULD have cost $80m." Gosh, it could have cost a billion dollars. It could have cost a trillion! So anyway, the film doesn't have a distributor because nobody wants to see it because it looks like garbage.

Drew McWeeny@drewmcweeny.com

Once again, Variety runs an uncritical advertisement for AI slop dogshit that doesn't even have a distributor. Jay Penske is obviously invested heavily in AI, and the trades are suspect from top to bottom because of such obvious conflicts of interest. variety.com/2026/film/ne...

This shit makes my blood boil. I once intervened when a guy was doing this. I told him to stop and when he didn't, I grabbed the arm he was filming with and he got shrill. He couldn't believe he was being called out. Then he got puffed up before pretending he was doing me a favor by walking away.

Tired of seeing people non-consensually film/photograph folks with visible addictions in order to prove a point, or worse, for entertainment. How would you feel? People are people, and people in vulnerable situations deserve dignity.

"This strange behavior is just the latest example of Trump’s apparent cognitive decline. Since returning to office, the president has often appeared to lose track of his thoughts, his whereabouts, and even his grasp on the English language."

I spent 3 years fighting a state lien against my father's house for exactly this reason. I spent 2 years, from 24 - 26 going into debt taking care of him, and then the following 3 years getting out from under Medicaid debt.

if millennials could afford homes this wouldnt be a problem but this is going to hit the generation like a truck

The issue is basically: You "inherit" a house when you are broke and without credit, and then it has a lien against it so you already couldn't get a loan to fix it in any way and you DEFINITELY can't with the lien so you are put in a position where you're forced to sell the property as is.

"I don’t know that there is any messaging that is relevant to our moment outside of the plot of the movie IN WHICH THE BAD AI AGENT (“virtual reality” in the parlance and time of its release) CONVINCES ITS HUMAN ENGINEER TO HELP IT ESCAPE IT'S ENVIRONMENT AND CREATE HAVOC IN OUR WORLD..." [1/2]

it-can-only-get-stranger.ghost.ioVirtuosity (1995) is prescient high campThe other day, while talking about The Book of Eli with my friends Kasai and Samuel (You Are Good episode forthcoming), I was reminded of the movie Virtuosity. We each left the conversation with Denze...

The engineer exploits the lust of a fellow engineer. He tells the android tech guy “You should make a fuck-bot of my sexy & compliant chess AI.” The engineer, so horned up by the sexy and compliant chess AI jumps at the chance and the conniving developer of SID 6.7 switches out the programs! [2/2]

Can somebody who knows things about Wikipedia fix the fact that the entry for the movie Virtuosity (1995) redirects to Virtuoso, making the page for the movie seemingly inaccessible?

I can't wait to share this episode with y'all next week. @themorbidzoo.bsky.social is a dream guest and didn't blink twice when I asked if she would come back to have the conversation a second time BECAUSE I FORGOT TO RECORD THE FIRST GO AROUND.

You Are Good@youaregood.bsky.social

With the exception of one time, when we were memorializing Rob Reiner, we never repeat titles on the show. We will, however, be covering The Texas Chain Saw Massacre a second time at the end of this month because if @themorbidzoo.bsky.social wants to talk about TCSM, we're gonna talk about TCSM.

I really loved Resident Evil. I enjoyed the 2 newer Evil Dead movies, but Resident Evil feels closer to an Evil Dead successor than anything that's been made this century.

I honestly think a lot of folks are not fully aware of how dire the job situation is, and how quickly the domino effect will touch every sector of the economy. I am not a doomer by any means, but we are woefully unprepared for what is about to happen, and the political class is especially useless.

Jana H-S (she, like a knife)@jana-aych-ess.bsky.social

I try to minimize anti-AI ranting, because I find it boring. but the fact that computer jobs are no longer hiring people who know how to code, making me overqualified for another "real job", combined with the fact that there are no entry-level positions anywhere else, is severely fucking me over

If you can be replaced by a computer, it will happen at some point moderately soon. If your job is contingent on consumer spending money, consumers will soon have no money. Add to this the highly likely AI bubble bursting - which won't STOP automation, by the way - and things are grim.

The crash won't lead to a slow-down in automation, it will lead to a consolidation and higher concentration of wealth as occurs after every crash.

Don't Call Me Darlin' is alive and out in the world. Please be sure to listen! Carolyn and Tristan will be on @youaregood.bsky.social this week!

My dearest friend and trench mate (and @youaregood.bsky.social founding producer) Carolyn Kendrick has a new podcast miniseries launching NEXT WEEK. It's called Don't Call Me Darlin. It's about genre and feminism and indie media and The State of Things. Subscribe wherever you listen to podcasts!

I'm all for a funny and passionate defense of TMBG by my pal @joshgondelman.bsky.social, but like... they're @mike-eagle.bsky.social's favorite band, which I feel says a lot about how undeniably great they are.

The intellectual dishonesty of anti-porn activists is so bad that a crusader is glossing over the fact that Meta was caught torrenting tons of copyrighted material so that they could underscore that the company who caught them has profited off "legal extortion" (threatening to sue over IP theft)

As a person who is FASCINATED by the role of shame in personal + collective sexual identities, I could write like 10 dissertations on Strike 3 Holdings but, uh, the story is about a company stealing IP so that its machines can replace human labor and it can keep all of the profit. THAT'S THE STORY.
