forgot how much i love being inside laundromats, the budget ones with the 80s vending machines. they were some of the only big places i got to run around in as a kid. the machines were so big and cool, and kinda loud and scary. like i could be sucked inside them.

finished ff3. it's the first one i'd consider unequivocally GOOD! the job system is pretty fun, though flawed. the world map having multiple layers is super cool. wish it kept the same characterization style as 2 and 4, main guys were pretty bland. 7/10. id put it between 8 and 13. onto replaying 4.

adding onto this, SPOILERS__ that bit near the end where everyone you met throughout the game came by to fight the wyverns was sick as hell. really nice way to wrap your whole journey up in a bow. wouldve been better if the main characters were real characters though. solid, solid game.

now done with ff2. very cool and ambitious mechanics for the time. crazy good ideas, unbalanced grindy mess with awful dungeons and forgettable bosses in practice. very good for my "number-go-up" autism tho. i respect ff2 massively, currently my least favorite under 15. its a 3/10; 15 is a 5/10.

final fantasy 2's "evolution moment" felt a lot cooler than ff1's. like a proto-Magicant from Mother 2. the twist at the very end is neat with Emperor coming back from hell to kill you and leon betraying you. shame this is on the NES honestly. lots of cool fuckin ideas.
