Under a microscope, biomolecular condensates look like tiny droplets. But what exactly is inside them? 🧫 A new paper in Advanced Science presents a label-free approach combining Raman spectroscopy and spectral phasor analysis to map the chemical composition of biomolecular condensates in situ. ⬇️⬇️

This review with Agu @mangiarotti.bsky.social 🙏on a topic close to my heart -membranes&condensates- came out some time ago.Only after receiving the printed issue,I realized it's on the journal cover. It does not have much to do with plants, but droplets on thin surfaces is kind of what it is about.

How do cells organize their crowded interior? A review by @dimovalab.bsky.social & @mangiarotti.bsky.social explores how membranes and biomolecular condensates shape each other via phase separation. Published in Nature Reviews Molecular Cell Biology: www.nature.com/articles/s41...

It was exciting to step outside our own research bubble on membranes & vesicles 👀 and engage with sustainable & responsive materials design, soft matter under confinement & AI. Exactly the kind of event that reminds you why being part of a broader scientific community matters. 🔬 @mpici.bsky.social

Want to learn more about membrane-condensate interactions? Maybe the lecture series of our @comeincell.bsky.social doctoral network would be of interest to you. 👉 the next lecture is on February 16: www.comeincell.org/2026-02-16-r...

How do biomolecular condensates🫧 interact with membranes? We show that dielectric permittivity contrast between coexisting phases directly governs condensate wetting behavior. 👉 preprint: bit.ly/4qBmVRx Permittivity matters.🧪🫧

🎤 Sought-after everywhere! After delivering a great and crystal-clear talk at #BiomembraneDays2025 on asymmetric membranes in ternary mixtures, @markusdeserno.bsky.social also spoke in Barcelona. 🌍

Barcelona Collaboratorium@barcelonacollaboratorium.com

We were pleased to host a charismatic speaker at the Collab today, Markus Deserno / Carnegie Mellon Uni. The presentation provided a thoughtful exploration of ternary asymmetric lipid membranes. Thank you to everyone who attended! #Collaboratorium2025 #Collaboratorium2025 #LipidMembranes

Georg Pabst presented how lipid asymmetry in membranes can modulate the performance of proteins like OmpLA and the importance of ions regulating this #BiomembraneDays25

Petia Vlahovska explained the contributions of viscous dissipation to membrane fluctuations and their increasing importance in analyzing data from small vesicles and interpretation of #NSE data #BiomembraneDays25 Check her paper Faizi et al PNAS 2024
