So proud of this comment today from a student evaluation: “Finally someone taking the time to actually explain how to use R. This is the 4th unit I have done that required it and the first time I feel I can actually use it after doing the course.” 🙏😍 #Rstats

What seems to not be understood is that #Autistic people are under +15x more cognitive load per second (my math) than allistic folk. We are built to process every 👏🏽 bit 👏🏽 of 👏🏽 input & need scaffolding to operate in AllisticLand. We burn out anyway because support is woefully insufficient.

Feeling anger and frustration because a large part of my masking is to say 'yes' to stuff I really don't want to do. How to undo 60 years of being Mr Easygoing. 😠 #masking #autistic #neurodivergence

In Australia there is a thing called a "mental health plan" where you can get your GP to sign off on subsidised mental health care. So that's what I'm waiting to do right now. The next step now that I've found a neuroaffirming therapist is to get some sessions with her - first avail. end of March 😣

A beautiful golden orb weaver #spider from our local bushland. The large spider is the female; her much smaller male partner is above her on the other side of the web. She will probably eat him after they mate 🫨🕷 #westernAustralia

Treasure in the Karri forest - the #westernAustralia slipper #orchid (Cryptostylis ovata). Karri (Eucalyptus diversicolor) is a tall hardwood tree growing up to 80 metres tall in higher- rainfall areas of the south of Western Australia.

I remembered lately that I do NOT like green Christmas lights or green Lego (or any similarly-hued green plastic things). But naturally green things are very cool 🐸🌿🌲🌳🌏🦎🦜🪲🍏

Thinking about how I experience Imposter Syndrome in areas like science where I actually have competence, but totally unrealistic expectations in areas I'm genuinely deficient, like social interactions. Full-on Dunning Kruger... #actuallyautistic #academicsky

Our 22 year old daughter turned 22 today. She has been offered a permanent job in a mining port town 2000 km away. Feeling proud but sad today. ♥️😥🥰🤔 #dadmoment #actuallyAutistic

I see a lot of research and books claiming that normalisation-enforcement of autistic people is 'compassionate'. The teams carrying it out truly believe it, too. I don't. What are your views?

You are up to date.
