Dear friends, I'm rejoining Redis. It's a long story, so it deserved a blog post to explain all the details: antirez.com/news/144

There's a popular perception that the "vibes are good" on bsky. Just one look at the replies here will dispel that perception. The real test of a "good vibes" culture is when you have to engage with those you disagree with.

If you're going to share a personal website / portfolio with prospective employers, make sure the basics check out (supports HTTPS, no certificate warnings, renders well on mobile etc). These are small details but they make a difference.

Hey bsky, I made a thing! tsatu.rocks For fans of The Seen And The Unseen (seenunseen.in), my favorite podcast, by Amit Varma (of India Uncut fame, among other things) In each episode, Amit asks his guests to recommend books, music, movies etc - this is my attempt to make that more accessible!

Watching Shelton and Alcaraz play at the Garden Cup. These two are utterly delightful to watch, they're having so much fun!!

Between all the talk about "AI slop", degrading Google search quality, challenges like Perplexity etc, I find myself wondering: How did we ever convince ourselves into manifesting "SEO" as an industry? All that time and energy, wasted in wordsmithing, not to communicate, but to appease the algo ..

Finished Dwarkesh's episode with @gwern.bsky.social yday - amongst the many interesting factoids, that Gwern is basically living off "early Bitcoin" savings + ~12K/yr from his Patreon. So next time I'm in a "why crypto" conversation, I'll just say it gave us Gwern 🎙️🫳🏽

OpenAI's text-to-video model -- Sora -- has been leaked by early testers, in protest (cc/ @huggingface.bsky.social ) > However, we believe instead we are being lured into "art washing" to tell the world that Sora is a useful tool for artists. huggingface.co/spaces/PR-Pu...

Saw it in NYC last week, loved every minute! What a beautiful movie, go see it!!

Hi Bluesky newcomers (newskies?): I'm seeing a lot of people carry over the same posting patterns from X -- the most annoying one being not including links in the first post. This is not X! You don't have to worry about optimizing for "the algorithm" Go wild! Play with different styles!

Good riddance!

Thanks @randomascii.bsky.social for the invite! Personal update for the folks I haven't talked to in a while. I've recently left Google to join The Browser Company! It's been a few weeks and I really love it! Here's some invite codes for Arc if you want to try it: https://arc.net/gift/58c0ca51

Cardinal couple in the bird feeder this morning

Works pretty well!!

I logged in here after a few days of being away and I was pleasantly surprised with the addition of multiple feeds. Pretty well integrated and easy to use - well done, y'all! Especially enjoying the "newskies" feed, I know I still feel like I'm skeeting into the void - go welcome some newskies!
