I was starting to find flagging AI Slop on LinkedIn therapeutic. Thankfully AI Slop is a lot less prevalent. Can we now get rid of video shorts on all of social media platforms (I'm aware I sounds like a grumpy dad).

I too looked at the ROI of AI infrastructure the wrong way. You have to consider that investments in this technology are not expected to 100X. It’s just expected to have a better return than another type of building: commercial real estate.

If differentiation eventually comes down to price advantages and utilization is higher than it should be because of subsidies it will be increasingly obvious that model creators have to move up the application stack.

Will a GPU that was used 24x7 since it was racked up depreciate at the same rate as one that gets different users periodically and different workload types probably not.

I too looked at the ROI of AI infrastructure the wrong way. You have to consider that investments in this technology are not expected to 100X. It’s just expected to have a better return than another type of building: commercial real estate.

The important consideration here is that unlike commercial real estate it requires substantially more investment (to replace the hardware), the hardware itself depreciates significsntly more than the apartment building and value of tokens has depreciated.

I’m starting to get a feeling that a lot of “independent journalism” and content on YouTube is no longer independent or “organic”. Oh well, back to my algorithmic recommendations.

Why does every social network eventually get overrun by unscrupolous people trying to push fake narratives for services you don’t want or need? I’m going to go interact with honest bots on Moltbook.

As much as we talk about Mythos in the context of security I haven’t heard much reporting about the potential vulnerabilities in “smart contracts”. Crypto bros might have some bad days ahead.

Edera is now live on Google Cloud Marketplace. You can procure Edera directly in GCP — and use your existing cloud credits to secure your container and AI workloads. Full isolation. Near-native performance. No procurement friction. Security without compromise, now one click away. edera.link/gcp

The serious answer though: some workflows really do benefit from a device like this especially when you’re trying to avoid website rate limits or need to integrate with actual macOS apps. It’s not quite the same comparison as a Raspberry Pi for that reason.

Bonus: I’m running local inference for the tool directly on the Mac Mini using LM Studio. For compute per dollar, that’s honestly some of the best value out there.

Expecting people to "not use" technology because it's unsafe is a losing proposition for consumer or enterprise apps. It's our responsibility as people building in technology that products are secure. Passing the blame to the user is 1) not an excuse 2) a sure way to not succeed as a business.

P.S: The Clawd/MoltBot product has in-depth documentation and tooling to avoid security issues. I'm sure as an awesome open source project it will evolve overtime to be more secure by default.

b) don't enable 2FA on everything (whether authenticator code apps or passkey vs SMS based 2FA) you can consider yourself lucky that your accounts have not yet been compromised.

For the paranoid a hardware security key where applicable is even better. (I'm looking at you U.S Banks with dismal security that still don't support hardware keys for customers and rely on SMS).

I barely stepped away from “geeking out” for less than 48 hrs and apparently I’m supposed to be running Clawdbot and should have purchased a Mac Mini for it… Don’t tell my wife but I already did. Also I’m all up for being in tech to constantly learn but can we slow down a bit 🤣

Does anyone else try to completely maximize their Claude Opus weekly allowance before it resets? It’s like going to a fancy buffet and repeating the fanciest dish one last time right?

I have been using Perplexity Pro for about two months and I haven’t once since then used Google does anyone else feel like traditional search even Google’s AI assisted search is severely lagging behind?

How long until Enterprise Software / Productivity suites cutoff API access to competing AI agents? I’m going to guess we end up with walled gardens. Do companies like Box/Dropbox have a MOAT for “holding the data”? We shall see.

Economics Rant: has anyone considered the premise that maybe gold price is not as high as we think and maybe the USD is just worth exponentially less overtime? Anyway; back to printing money.

Black Friday is almost here, the day where we constantly add things to an e-commerce shopping cart we won't buy and probably won't need. If only they did the same discounts for domain names so we continue to buy and register domains we don't need.

Perplexity Pro is getting subsidized for 12 months for all PayPal users. Definitely going to take advantage of it and try to see the advantages and disadvantages vs ChatGPT and Gemini.

You know your security settings for account management, etc. are kind of robust when you get a new phone and you’re absolutely locked out of everything and can’t get back in even when you know all the things.

Namespaces tidy your cluster — they don’t isolate it. All containers still share the same kernel, so one escape can take down the node. Partitioning ≠ Protection. True workload isolation happens at runtime, not in YAML. By @denhamparry.co.uk for @thenewstack.io
