In 2012, I went to a screening of The Wrath of Kahn and Q&A with Walter Koenig to celebrate his Walk of Fame star. He talked about the illegal scams he ran to fund his early acting days in NYC. Like staging an accident at a building under construction. Way past the statute of limitations, he said.

Rarely a week goes by without me saying “meee-yah!” like Mr. Chekov getting a creature in his ear from Khan. May he rest well and return the galaxy and its wonders.

My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

I’d love to know who this fiery, patriotic young woman is, so I could follow her social media or Substack. This is EXACTLY how the fuck we should all be feeling about the corrupt, criminal regime that’s infested the White House. This shit has to end. And people like this woman will lead the way.

So, I’m reading this Star Trek book from 1988 and, not realizing that Kirk’s mother’s name is Winona, I thought this was some weird future message from 2009

WILDWOOD is a classic film. You will watch it every year in the autumn for the rest of your hell damn ass life. It will enrich you. It will feed you. That movie with the prankster will win Oscars and disappear. It will Crash. It will Life is Beautiful. It will The Artist.

Justina Ireland being in the Carrie writers room makes me think that having a mysterious character do a very Last Jedi thing while referencing Jedi can’t be accidental

I know Joe Kelly isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but this storyline about May’s lost son and his plan to cut Peter out of her life is really good Spidey soap opera stuff. Add in MJ, Norman, and Wanda as confidants and it becomes great Marvel comics

Hokum is now on Hulu - a new film by Irish writer/director Damian McCarthy. While I liked his previous film, Oddity, a bit more this one’s fun for an October night. A mixture of unresolved trauma, a murder in a remote hotel in Ireland, and something awful in the basement.

it really is cool how it uses so many fable archetypes - the wizard in the forest, the ghost, the witch, the huntsman, the king and the evil prince, a talking animal, and a fool - and parades them in front of a disillusioned writer to try to help him get his life back on track.

#4 favorite comics Black Widow (the far too short run) by Kelly Thompson, Elena Casagrande, and others Hawkeye: My Life as a Weapon by Matt Fraction, David Aja, and others Superman: The Kryptonite Spectrum by W. Maxwell Prince, Martin Morazzo, and others Three Rocks by Bill Griffith
