For folks in or near Brooklyn tonight! There is nowhere like the Brooklyn Public Library. There is no one like @chenjerai.bsky.social. And there are few things more Brooklyn than Howard Zinn. Come on through! www.bklynlibrary.org/calendar/dav...

blackfreedomstudies.org/events/fall-... So excited to be taking part in the "Conversations in Black Freedom Studies," talk hosted by the Schomburg Center! Our topic "Sports and the Black Freedom Struggle" (November 5th)!
Had the pleasure of covering this amazing book by @anthonyocampo.bsky.social in my graduate intro to inequality course. Definitely recommend!
One of the best books I've read this year. Legacy by @ucheblackstockmd.bsky.social is an incredible account of systemic racism in medicine as well as a tribute to Black women who continue to work for change. Personal. Powerful. 10/10 recommend.

I am a bundle of emotions. But August has brought major good things: tenure and promotion, and now full legal custody of my little sis. Dad, its settled ๐ญ๐
Since my dad passed in December of last year, I've been navigating guardianship matters for my little sis. Today, the court officially gave me full legal custody. I didn't realize how much I'd been holding in since then ๐ญ๐ญ I am happy. Relieved.
www.wlwt.com/article/east... Today little sis came home in tears ๐ข one of her friends (14), was recently shot. She's well acquainted with grief from the loss of family, but this is different. Someone close to her age. Someone she'd seen recently. My heart brakes for her ๐
I am beyond grateful to everyone who has wished my congratulations in relation to my tenure and promotion. The last seven months have been filled with so many transitions, alongside grief from loss/1
Well, now that the board has met and confirmed things, I'm so looking forward to my new rank of Associate Professor with tenure come August 15th!
