The worst thing that can come from a book club pick, is for everyone to like it. My favorite is when someone storms into the meeting, slams the book on the table and screams, "I hate this book!" Cause, now we're talking! 😃😃😃

The United States really has me thinking about Telemachus in The Odyssey. Surrounded by self seeking suitors, uncertain of our own character qualities and looking for guidance and leadership. #theodyssey

Very much looking forward to the next episode of Last Podcast on the Left tomorrow. Their coverage of Anton Lavey and The Church of Satan really reminds me of how the sitting US President is motivated. #lastpodcastontheleft

I watched the Kendrick Lamar Halftime Show before I watched the Bad Bunny Halftime Show. I had a lot of the same feelings. I knew they were rich in symbolism, and that a lot of it went past me. But I felt connected to it.

Not unlike a well performed Shakespeare play. Even if I can't parse what the actors are saying, the performance goes beyond the language. It was good. 💚

I had that desperate situation we all find ourselves in, where we need a set of highlighters. Such a common dilemma. These were the only ones they had at Barnes and Noble. I was a little reluctant, but it turns out they work just as well on apocryphal texts as they do canonical books. Huzzah!

I've listened to the audiobook of The Great Gatsby a dozen times already, but reading through the novel while knowing very well how it ends - I get an anxiety that as the pages turn, the noose is closing around the characters tighter and tighter with the thinning pages.

Been thinking of this short story by Albert Camus ever since we had our discussion of A Doll's House. I'm gonna write a short piece about it this weekend...

Stephen Miller: "All these demonstrators that you've seen out here in recent days, all these elderly white hippies, they're not part of the city and never have been ... we're gonna ignore these stupid white hippies that all need to go home and take a nap because they're all over 90 years old."

Donald Trump announces his a "trade deal" with Vietnam, which increases taxes on American consumers while decreasing taxes on Vietnamese consumers. The zero-rate tariff offer in Vietnam was proposed on April 4. He's essentially done nothing in 3 months. A true genius at work. The art of the deal.

We're reading East of Eden and William James came up in a way I felt was very coy but relevan. This has been my goto for understanding a reference in a book that goes over my head. BBC Radio 4 - In Our Time, William James's 'The Varieties of Religious Experience' www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b...
