The current regime is trying to establish a new belief system for America based upon self-interest, wealth, power and control, and total freedom without accountability, defying the rule of law. Yes, a dictatorship. They have abandoned the national values freedom and respect for all people.

Don’t just say DEI as if it’s a bad word. Spell it out. Say diversity, which is the lifeblood of American society & culture & innovation. Say equity, which a just society should pursue. Say inclusion, because decent people believe in increasing belonging, not isolating people who are different.

Toxic leaders acquire power by creating divisions among the people - the favored and the disfavored, the angels and the demons - and catering to the desires of the majority group. They are neither peacemakers nor unifiers. Their idea of unity is total submission.

As an American & vet, I care that the FBI does the background checks and not a private organization. I want unbiased, detailed accountability to the public, not superficiality. Most Americans are too busy to understand the difference. If clarified, they would care. www.nbcnews.com/politics/pol...

An ethical leader practices, transparency, and avoids deception. It seems Trump and his campaign exploited a weakness in his base to manipulate them for their vote. www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

It seems probable that Trump and his campaign knew about the vulnerability of his base to misinformation. His history demonstrates that he exploits weakness and manipulates for his purpose. Unethical, deceptive, coercive. Fear mongering. Not leadership.

This new administration is proving to be unethical because they refuse to sign an agreement committing to only using their position for the common good and not for personal gain. This is the essence of public trust.

“Hungary’s key lesson is you don’t protect democracy by talking about democracy — you protect democracy by protecting people. Only a democracy that works for the people is sustainable.”

Ethics in government is based on the foundation of facilitating, the public trust. While there is no law mandating FBI background checks, Americans have a right to know their appointed officials are not compromised and will act in the public interest.

“The public and the Senate should demand that Trump comport with the essential safeguards to our democracy, such as using the FBI to conduct background checks.” - Barb McQuade www.bloomberg.com/opinion/arti...

We must realize the right-wing media does not play fair and dominates the airwaves. As long as the left continues to play nice and polite without confronting, the lies and deception assertively, the left will always be at a disadvantage. newrepublic.com/post/188197/...

newrepublic.comWhy Does No One Understand the Real Reason Trump Won?It wasn’t the economy. It wasn’t inflation, or anything else. It was how people perceive those things, which points to one overpowering answer.

With all these allegations, this nominee is compromised. No other military person or government employee would be able to obtain a security clearance. To nominate him and push for his confirmation without a background check senatorial screening is unethical since doing so violates the public trust.

It seems to me that as elected officials the president and legislators work for us the American people. Therefore, the cabinet does not work for the president, but for us. To the circumvent the confirmation process is to bypass accountability to the American people.

Friends, here is a target opportunity. This explains why I was getting so attacked on Facebook. As much as I hate to say it, and although I have sworn off Facebook, maybe I should reengage to confront the extreme right.

This is an accurate diagnostic, presented as a solution. And I’m not sure there is a solution to where we now find ourselves and are surely headed. Plus, there aren’t any pols I want to hear from (except @repjasmine.bsky.social). Sorry for the down note. ☹️ Good morning?
