Powered it up. The drum spins, the guides move, the capstan spins, but the reel tables don’t move. It must be a problem with the belt or the idler. I don’t have time to pull out the chassis so this will have to wait until another day.

It’s really clean inside, but the lubrication for the tape guide channels is shot. Those two white rollers move along on a little sled and pull the tape around the drum. I’m going to scrape it off and replace it with white lithium grease because it’s metal on metal.

This morning I went to vote in McLennan County, Texas. There were about four or five times as many people as I have ever seen up there for early voting. I guess I can’t say who they were voting for, but something different is going on.

Now watching- The Wicker Man (1973) I got this at an estate sale a couple months ago. It wasn’t rewound. I pressed play and it was cued up to Britt Ekland’s nude dance scene!

I saw a double bill of Bullitt with Vertigo when the Metreon multiplex was new - South Of MArket st., SF. I'd not seen it before and haven't since but it's still vivid in my aural and visual memory.

This looks so modern. It’s one of the first movies to use the new Arriflex II B camera. The small light weight camera let them shoot in real locations that would have been impossible before. This made it cheaper and more practical to shoot all over San Francisco, inside and out.

Now watching- The Silencers (1996) Dir. Richard Pepin Pepin and PM Entertainment are know for mid budget/high effort ‘90s action. This one is alien invasion/conspiracy themed.

🎬 54 years ago today (September 26, 1972), "Moon of the Wolf" was first broadcast on American TV! Directed by Daniel Petrie, it stars David Janssen, Barbara Rush, Bradford Dillman, John Beradino & Geoffrey Lewis. The film was originally aired on ABC, as part of the "Movie of the Week" series!

Now watching- Island of Lost Souls (1932) It’s got a Universal Monsters logo and everything. The thing is, it’s a Paramount movie?? So in 1955 MCA bought up all of Paramount’s old movies. Then in 1962 MCA took over Universal, so that’s how it ended up all under the same roof.

The special effects are wonderful in this. It’s about these tiny flying saucers that land in new york and interact with people. Some of it probably puppetry and some of it is definitely optical compositing but you can hardly tell which is which. It’s really well done.
