I keep thinking about all this money we waste on politicians and all of the things we could be doing with it instead.

I’d rather be enjoying this wonderfully fall Saturday outside, but instead I’m studing for two exams next week. Today I’m grateful for open windows, the sounds of neighbor children playing outside, and a cool breeze on my face.

Please don’t trust the polls, y’all. They have been inaccurate AF way too often. Vote like we are 3% down in every race and we need every single vote to pull out a win. Bc I fear that may be more accurate. Vote like your life + liberty depend on it. Come hell or high water, get to the ballot box.

There are two kinds of Americans: 1) Those of us who clearly take up more space than we deserve. 2) Those of us who are afraid to take up space at all. If we are going to make progress the latter group needs to muster the courage to finally find our voice. Take up space or someone else will.

I’m going to keep saying it until someone listens. American companies should work for all Americans, not a select few elites. If you are a large employer, you should be required to employ a social worker(s) to act as an ethical liaison between the company, workers, and community.

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but we each own the American culture and we get to choose how we contribute. If you don’t like our culture, I would encourage you to take a big step back and examine how YOU contribute to it.

As a gay man with a Primitive Baptist father/family, I can confidently say no one thinks about gay sex more than Christians.

I seem to always make big changes in my life around my birthday. I’ve initiated divorces. Left jobs. Moved house more than once. For once in my life on my birthday, I feel like I’m right where I should be. I’m just going to enjoy it this year. ❤️

It’s alarming me how many democratic platforms are focused nearly entirely on republican = bad. People need a reason to vote that isn’t look at that terrible person over there.

I really can’t emphasize enough that we need to stop analyzing Trump and his goons. You will drive yourself crazy. We only need to focus on the task at hand which is keeping as many of us safe as possible while we vote him out and work toward holding him and every one of his enablers accountable.

My first narcissistic relationship was with my father. My second narcissistic relationship was with my husband. My third narcissistic relationship was with my boss. My fourth narcissistic relationship is with my president.

We are all responsible for the culture in America. We all played a role in pushing America to this moment—some more directly than others, but all of us still. I would encourage you to think of the ways you contributed. Sit with it, acknowledge it, forgive yourself, and make different choices.

In Nov. 2025 a left my corporate job and started my on going journey of deconstructing my corporate identity. To say it’s been difficult is a profound understatement. I liken what I’m going through to leaving a religion or cult. The thing that gets me through is the community around me.

1. Let's not say goodbye to Eric Schmitt just yet. His story is about more than a power-mad senator falling on his face. It's part of a larger story about the Republicans defending the leader of an insurrection against the United States.

It’s really cool that more and more marketing emails look like order confirmations for potentially fraudulent sales. I love it. 😐

The death penalty is not only morally wrong, but it is financially irresponsible. A 2014 NV audit found that death penalty cases cost the state $532,000 more on average than comparable non-death-penalty cases.

I’m spending more time in my college social institutions course debunking MAGA misinformation than I am learning the materials for the course.

Maybe, just maybe our culture and the attitudes, behaviors, and values it supports and glorifies needs to have a long, hard look taken at it and them.

Sexual assault is always a choice. It is not just how boys or men are. Men are not inherently violent. Women and children are not property. No one is entitled to sex with another person.

Is it just me or are there two kinds of people in the South: those who have never sincerely apologized for anything and those who apologize habitually? I’m not sure who is worse.

How do we get Americans to start standing up for each other like in this example of true greatness? E Pluribus Unum.

Now that we’ve watched our government run like a business, can we agree that businesses need stronger ethics and greater accountability? It’s time to bring social workers into business leadership to ensure people matter as much as profits. We cannot fix America without fixing American business.

In 10 months since quitting my corporate job I earned 16 college credits with a 4.0 GPA. I learned Bach’s English Suite 2. I learned to can veg from the garden my partner grows. I have found myself in these new skills and knowledge and something has shifted. I’m no longer afraid.

So now I have a job, I’m a full time student, and serving on a board of directors. I set out to change my life last November and I have succeeded. Now to survive. 🥱🤣

We do not give young people enough credit! I’m so proud of my most recent test scores, I often wonder if the amount of work and emotional stress it causes is worth it. Going back to school at 40 is by far the most difficult thing I’ve ever done, but I do think I’m on the right path. Finally!

I believe the question we should be asking about AI is not about its ethics, but rather why so many of us feel we need it in the first place.

This Day in Labor History: September 15, 1845. Women working in the Pittsburgh textile mills met in Market Square to discuss the necessity of fighting to cut their days from 12 to 10 hours without a reduction in pay. The workers struck and a militant confrontation with capital resulted!
