The history of neoliberalism is one of public money being channeled to private corporations. What does Syed think happened in 2008 and what Austerity was for?

Matthew Syed writes that there “should be more bouts of unemployment” in his latest column. Maybe the Sunday Times and Radio 4 can shitcan him to put that theory to the test.

Nazi "Danny Tommo" is a privately educated bourgeois who was sentenced to 2 years in July 2016 for attempting to kidnap someone at knifepoint over £10,000 in drug money - a crime, the Judge noted, was "extraordinarily frightening" matched only by its "stupidity". www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026...

A book for those who love, and hate, cricket! 🏏 😅

Fahad@13411fahad.bsky.social

there's a more recent book called "Different Class" by @drcricket.bsky.social which is really good. (don't worry your hate for cricket will remain intact; in fact it might give you more fodder for it, if anything)

We have made a full documentary about what really happened at Reform conference. If you only watch a bit of it please make it these 39 seconds. You won't regret it.

They are also stopping road traffic - we are told that this is a serious act of "terrorism", entailing long prison sentences, when done for environmental reasons?

So if you protest a genocide you are automatically a "terrorist" but hold up a major shipping route while wearing balaclavas and you are a "protester" and the police "engage with you"? www.bbc.com/news/article...

The utter hypocrisy of Kemi Badenoch here, after banning myself and the late great David Hencke from Conservative Party conference last year. Needless to say my application to attend this year on behalf of Byline Times has still not been approved

I will remember Rod Liddle for the fact that the lawyer who checked my book before publication had no issue with me writing that Liddle couldn’t be a teacher because he’d have had sex with the students. Why? Because Liddle wrote it in a national magazine.

Compare this to the client #journalism in #cricket. Credit to some, who rightly questioned, debated and opposed #TheHundred (and Bazball). Yet too many couldn’t wait to jump on the money train once they’d sussed the way the wind was blowing, and still parrot shite to sustain it.

While there are long standing socio / cultural / societal issues at play, I do believe the difference in media reaction (be it outrage, resigned indifference, or implicit support) reveals much about who ‘owns’ each sport. Or, more accurately, who each, ultimately, ‘serve’.
