Joy and concentration. 😂♥️

This encapsulates a profound shared joy. This week we spent 23 hrs in the saddle, climbing 7395m and ripping 271 km of the finest single track BC had to offer. Trials cement friendships, and trails keep us coming back for more. Canada is majestic as it is noble.

Day 4 of racing on the island. Nanaimo is a gem.

So it begins!!

Riding the park was pure adrenaline. This is zen. Even the climbs were relaxing. 🥰

Ugh! Bleak. Also... of course. Conspiracy Theorists Are Creating Special AIs to Agree With Their Bizarre Delusions futurism.com/conspiracy-t... "...bots specifically trained on harebrained conspiracy theories, including a custom bot designed to convince parents not to vaccinate their children."

City council can put ballot questions forward during the next municipal election. I think we should give this serious thought and let all taxpayers and voters have a say on providing the oilers owners $88.5m for their business. www.michaeljanz.ca/referendum2025

I’m off to go race mountain bikes!

What is the mountain bike equivalent of stumbling into beauty?

Mist rolls into the valley, healing a chafed earth, and though I am lost in my thoughts, I can find myself in this perfect moment. The sun has marked safe passage through another year.

I’m heading from Edmonton to Cowichan this June for a mountain bike race. Any places I should camp at along the way?

Making coffee for these AM gems. @willygrant.bsky.social and @slashgraphics.com lighting up my day, with a subtle plug for the best bakery in town. @sugaredandiced.bsky.social. Though @uptownone.bsky.social gives them a run for their money. @coffeeoutside.bsky.social

Beautiful morning @coffeeoutside.bsky.social with @drdagly.bsky.social & @slashgraphics.com

Hey #yegbike Alberta at Noon is talking bike lanes with Alberta’s minister of transportation. Come join the discussion.

these people hate DEI because they would be unemployable in any system where they couldn’t rely on favoritism and nepotism

Mr Hobbes will miss Pokey McSquirrel, who just got relocated to the regional head office.

I’m not a man who uses faith in the churn. I do think the universe has a dark sense of humour. I liked this pope. He took on the mantle of humanity, one that had been shirked by his predecessors. He wore it with honesty & valour. His last council should not have been the devil.

This fills my cup on Friday mornings. Meeting great folks outside for coffee. @coffeeoutside.bsky.social @drdagly.bsky.social

Good Friday, Good People, & Good Coffee Outside... Nice to see some familiar faces as I buzzed by @coffeeoutside.bsky.social on my legs this morning. With @drdagly.bsky.social serving up the delish diuretics on his bike coffee bar thingee. ✌️ #yegbike #yeggers #edmonton #outsideisthebestside #yeg

This is not about bike lanes, this is about distracting Albertans from the Corruptcare scandal. Stay focused. Call a public inquiry. Reach out to me and let’s talk about what we can do together. #ableg

I’d argue everyone knew how bad it would be. But just over half thought it would only affect everyone else.

There are places, That hold on to the last of winter, Just as I clasp onto gentle solitude, And my heart seeks solace. For there is no coincidence in the solstice. It is the fulcrum upon which The seasons balance. A fine tipping unto the herald of sound And fury.

#Gaza: we are appalled and saddened by the killing of our colleague Hussam Al Loulou by an airstrike. His wife and 28-year-old daughter were also killed in this horrendous attack. This is the second killing of an MSF colleague in just two weeks. www.doctorswithoutborders.ca/gaza-msf-mou...

It’s a tiny cabin in the woods, but it’s been built with honesty, and it’s taught me so much, most importantly, go outside and look up, because though it may make you feel small, the view is worth it.

The sun’s breath has awoken Aurora. She is silent and fleeting but her embrace leaves me wanting more.

Ended my call shift with coffee, started the weekend with a toast. Sláinte Mr Hobbes, I thank you for carrying your pack through the snow, (and this bottle). 😉

Well, got a late start and missed official @coffeeoutside.bsky.social But it’s a beautiful day, and coffee outside is always a good thing. Missed the conversation, but certainly enjoyed the ride.

Chasing the last of the snow this morning.

He fired the black chairman of the joint chiefs for being woke and hired his brother.

We live in the north. There will always be snow, or at least I hope there will. How we deal with it is what we control. I choose to dive in to it like a corgi on meth.

I figured it might be a bit snowy for @coffeeoutside.bsky.social, but I had to check if @uptownone.bsky.social left any treats behind.

I looked into the ravine knowing that once I started this path there was no turning back. It’s a rather obvious metaphor but no matter the challenges it brought me, I’m a richer man for it. Also the nurses in the unit find me insufferably cheerful this morning. 😈🙂

Well, the snow this morning was less than fluffy but I had such a joyful ride in this morning. So much fish tailing and backing it into corners this morning.

Dear future Darren. There will beautiful fluffy snow covering all that treacherous ice that you already know about. You will attack that ridiculously steep descent like a 7 year old who had 3 hours of sleep and a triple espresso with 8 tbs of sugar. It won’t end well. Sincerely. Present Darren.

Mostly cloudy, a bit breezy…but still fairly warm Wednesday. Then…things take a turn in the evening with rain turning to snow & snow Thursday (probably heavy snow). After that…a cool spell sets in. Here’s your Tuesday WxBlast video: www.ctvnews.ca/edmonton/vid... #yegwx

This. Means. Everything.

Morning commute. Now with 40% more dawn glow.

I gravel bike differently than most.

Channeling Monday like an old dog who still chases coyotes.

Spring at the cabin can be a bit wild. Had to hike in as the snow was still quite deep. Down to the last of my chopped wood. The weather varies 😂. Still my favourite place in the world.

Good morning!

Things far more important for the Canadian economy than tax cuts for millionaires: * Dental, pharma, vision care. * Clean indoor air. * Worker safety. * Mental health care. * Environmental health. * Education. * Support for chronically ill and disabled folks. * Research funding.

When I’m asked why I do @coffeeoutside.bsky.social , I channel @kub64.bsky.social “If the monks aren’t there to toll the bells, then the town ceases to hear their calling.” A community’s orbit depends on both the gravity & period of its rituals. So I roast and grind the beans. And it fills my cup.

It was an excellent morning @coffeeoutside.bsky.social An eagle flew over our group this morning too (no pic of that). 🦅 ☕️ ❤️

Morning.
