End of August the University of Zurich is holding another Scientifica with the topic "Wie wir wissen schaffen". I am holding a presentation on how we study dreams, what we dream and why on Saturday 29. August at 4 pm. If you are interested, feel free to drop by! scientifica.ch/event/how-do...

scientifica.chHow Do We Study What We Dream? - ScientificaVon verpassten Prüfungen bis hin zu fehlenden Hosen: Wenn wir schlafen, tauchen wir in Welten ein, die mal seltsam oder völlig unmöglich und mal völlig alltäglich sind. Doch wie können […]

Night-to-night sleep EEG variability over one year: We found that intra-individual night-to-night variation was low for spectral power, sleep duration, N2 and REM sleep; medium for N3 and macrostructure; and high for sleep cycle duration, wake and N1. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...

Why do we forget our dreams? Dreams are the kind of experiences that in principle should stick well in memory: emotional and often bizarre. If we would encounter typical dream content during wakefulness, we would likely never forget it. Yet, we forget most dreams soon after awakening. (1/3)

From an evolutionary perspective, maybe dream amnesia serves an adaptive function, preventing us from confusing dreamed experiences with actual events encountered during wakefulness? In particular in our social life, it's quite important to tell dreamed interactions apart from real ones. (2/3)

With NIDRA you can autoscore PSG & wearable EEG sleep recordings with high accuracy, with or without code, in a user-friendly interface, and with minimal installation required. Feedback on this early but highly functional version is very welcome, please contact paul.zerr@donders.ru.nl
