Thoroughly enjoyed this report from @drewdaniel.bsky.social to an experimental festival run by a 19 year old in China.

this summer in Beijing I had my head split open by an amazing festival called You and Me that was organized by 19 year old Zhao Ziyi. I have a feature article in the new issue of @thewiremagazine.bsky.social about this festival and Yan Jun and Mattin’s performances in particular. Check it out!
It’s true! CSX fest has a very deep lineup including a full gamelan orchestra, Pharmakon, Yellow Tears, Robert Turman, Gen Ken Montgomery and more. I’m playing with John Wiese on Friday right after Crazy Doberman! Come through! Info here: csxrva.org

My partner did a tarot reading for me, soundtracked by “Can Such Delightful Times Go On Forever?” by @drewdaniel.bsky.social, and the first card drawn was Temperance (the card that Crowley renamed “Art”). Auspicious!

Two married professors and their son are being held in ICE detention, despite being legal permanent residents and having no criminal records. All, apparently, because their mom/MIL was a translator for the Iranian hostage takers in 1979, before they were even born. www.thenation.com/article/soci...
hey Bay Area people! MATMOS, DICK SLESSIG COMBO, and JEROD S RIVERA are all going to perform this coming Saturday night at @grayarea.org in the beautiful Mission district of San Francisco! You should come! bring all of your loved ones too!
I am « in my feelings » that this poetry anthology is going to come out after years of labor with my fabulous co-editors- I have some thoughts and more context which won’t fit in one post so I’ve written it all out below: 👇

If you read only one essay this year that features the words "seafood jacuzzi", let it be this one: substack.com/home/post/p-...
On my (free) Substack, I wrote an essay about reading poetry on a train journey, and the disruption of that journey. Content warning: suicide. drewdaniel.substack.com/p/scorpion-m...
In advance of my turning 55 in a few days, I have written something personal about aging, perspective, and illusion, with cameo appearances from alpine mountains, Chinese rugs, and, er, Søren Kierkegaard. You can read it on my (new, free) Substack right here: drewdaniel.substack.com/p/reciprocal...
For my sins, I have started a (free) Substack, which will act as a splashy tidal pool for citation fondling, essays, and the occasional rant. My inaugural post on stupefaction, "mollusk feelings" and reading through a heatwave, can be found here: drewdaniel.substack.com/p/a-strong-d...
