"It has always struck me that the people who lead their lives in response to the prospective shame offered readily by their communities under the pall of What Will People Say? have always known exactly what people will say. The question for our lives should be What Say Do People Have?" โ€“ Sonora Jha

The truth is, the impacts of I-638 won't just be felt by trans girls, but by every girl in our state who wants to play K-12 sports. It would require girls to undergo invasive genital exams to prove their sex, just to play sports with their friends. Vote NO on I-638 this November. #NoHateWAState

Oh whatโ€™s this? ๐Ÿ‘€ Iโ€™m gonna try and submit art to a small show. I havenโ€™t done that before and Iโ€™m a bit nervous, but itโ€™s coming along nicely. Done with acrylic, colored pencils, and ink. #Art #Koi

"Overall, hierarchies in the status of human are a key part of what racialized gender binarism contributes to sport: whose body is respected; whose pleasures or grieving matters; whose participation and identities are supported, encouraged, and rewarded." โ€“ Erica Rand #figureskating #scotus #sports

Jersey Shore (2009) is a microcosm of patriarchy and heteronormativity, pushed to its extremes. However, despite how the show platforms sexist & transphobic ideology, it is a perfect vessel for analyzing how gender is a social construct and the euphoria one can receive from gender affirmation. ๐Ÿงต๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€โšง๏ธ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น

The root of most of the drama is misogyny and toxic masculinity. - Mike vs Sammi: Mike believes he is owed sex from Sam because she flirts with him. - Sam vs Ron: The way Ron treats Sammi (gaslighting, insulting, love bombing) is normalized sexist behavior to control women.

- All instances of slut shaming - All instances of women being insulted for being fat &/or ugly including the term "grenades" and "land mines" - The random man punching Snooki - All the physical altercations Ronnie gets in with other men

In this culture, if a woman is present in a sexual context (e.g., making out with girls in the hot tub, dancing with girls at the club), then physical forms of intimacy between men become socially allowable, ร  la Challengers (2024).

Guido/Guidette culture is camp, as is evident in: - the severe tans, - Snooki's poof, - Pauly D's gelled hair, - JWOWW's hyperfeminine clothes that highlight her breasts - and the men's endless supply of bedazzled Ed Hardy shirts ๐Ÿฏ

The men of Jersey Shore, who seem to be the epitome of cis straight machismo, display surprising physical closeness with one another: putting arms around each other's waists in the club and watching each other become sexually intimate with women (and sometimes touching each other during the acts).
