Each time we enjoy a meal out or order a takeaway, someone cooks for us in a commercial kitchen. New study from PSE Healthy Energy measured the #airpollution that these workers breathe, the impact of pilot lights and spread into dinning areas. Piece by me. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Before and after: 6 years ago, Utrecht restored the Catharijnesingel. Once filled in during the 1970s to make way for traffic, the historic canal now flows again around the old city, lined with pedestrian paths, bike lanes, and a park-like landscape.

Improvements in air pollution are leading to brighter, smarter toddlers. A New York study adds to the growing evidence that air pollution is a fixable problem and that health improves when air pollution is reduced. My latest for @theguardian.com www.theguardian.com/environment/...

“We need an Ozempic for cars. They are growing at a phenomenal rate, wreaking havoc on roads, squeezing out smaller vehicles and endangering pedestrians. Like ever-hungry teenagers, cars in Europe are growing on average a centimetre wider every year.” Don’t repeat North America’s mistake, Europe.

Let’s curb them before they do even more damage, says says transport commentator Christian Wolmar

This stopped me in my tracks. An independent study by @qmul.bsky.social has found that after ULEZ was introduced, children’s lungs grew faster in Central London and have now caught up with children outside of the capital. Incredible.

Air pollution stunts children’s lung growth. New Queen Mary research found that improvements in air quality after the introduction of London’s ULEZ are associated with accelerated lung growth in children. Read more: shorturl.at/Jx86o

Interesting study. Replacing gas stoves with electric seems like one of the low hanging fruit for making homes that are healthier for the people and the planet.
