Weakening the ZEV mandate is completely the wrong direction to go in. This would mean more #AirPollution, more illness, more costs to the NHS. This @cleanairfund.bsky.social research shows that cumulative air-pollution-related damage costs could rise by £882m between 2024 & 2050.

We can't shout about this enough - the CHILL study led by @qmul.bsky.social found links between the reductions in #AirPollution from the ULEZ and improved lung growth in children. Jemima: "To hear that any damage my children may have had is outweighed by Ulez is such a massive relief."

Let's be honest: it was never fully compliant, not when you looked at the local data. Despite the ULEZ's success, our air is still far too polluted. Toxic diesel and non-essential wood burning are still leaving too many of us breathless. We need more action to clean up our air @london.gov.uk.

Wood burning has definitely started again in my area. We had the windows open last night and the house stank of smoke - it was dark so we don’t know who is burning. We need much better public health messaging about this issue so everyone can understand the damage they are doing when they light up!
