Off on my summer road trip. This time I'm headed to the Southwest. First leg of this drive I've done before. Headed south on I-25 to stay the night in Santa Fe, New Mexico. It was overcast all day with a little bit of rain. #photography #roadtrip

My latest capture, the Triangulum Galaxy, one of the closest galaxies to the Milky Way. Only spent about an hour on this so far cause what I was really waiting for was the Pleiades to get above the neighbors house, lol. Still, turned out decent. #astrophotography

#LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched #filmsky J’s Dune - amazing doc. Reading his comics now Ruslan & Ludmilla - the very definition of a “lavish production” Screamers - I still have some nostalgia for grimy 90s Outer Limits-esque sci-fi Screamers 2 - but less nostalgia for 00’s SyFy-esque cheapos

Has Max even heard of a drive-through penalty before? “Is that like when McDonalds forgets your fries and you have to drive back around to the window?”

Popped into the European GT4 Series race YouTube and half the comments are asking where Max Verstappen is. Probably a good chunk of those are just trolling but the rest don’t know the difference between GT4 and GT3.

My current favorite daydream is somehow getting the local NPR classical station to let me do a ”Film Score Friday” show. Obviously this being October, Christopher Young’s score for Hellraiser would be in heavy rotation.

#LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched #filmsky Schumacher - decent doc, but distracting CGI inserts Castle in the Carpathians - the book didn’t strike me as a farce but the approach works Heroic Times - fascinating experiment in pushing animation to its limits Sky Pirates - Sadly it’s no Duck Tales

I love a good audio commentary. Sometimes you get serious discussion of craft, or sometimes, like on From Beyond, you get a group of buddies who just roast their own film.

I was counting their appearances and only came up with four different series until I realized I was trying to block out their Enterprise episode from my mind.

OTD, the season 1 finale of Star Trek: Lower Decks, "No Small Parts," which made Jonathan Frakes and Marina Sirtis the first Star Trek regular cast members to play the same roles in five different series.

Finally had some clear sky again, so here's a few of my recent #astrophotography pics: The Eastern Veil Nebula, the double star clusters of NGC 869 and NGC 884, the Soul Nebula, and an attempt at getting both the Heart and Soul Nebulas in one frame. That one's not so great yet, needs more work.

#LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched #filmsky Lion of the Desert - Braveheart must have ripped this off, but this one is actually accurate Zulu - absolute classic despite a few things Light Brigade - an infamous flop but it’s fairly decent Paths of Glory - that Kubrick guy is going places for sure

Finished my first playthrough of Star Wars: Zero Company. Fantastic game. Great story, especially for a fan of all the animated series. Gameplay was very fun. Felt like I earned every victory. Now all it needs is a skirmish or randomly generated shot campaign mode. #StarWars #ZeroCompany

Quantum mechanically speaking, we have to treat any "upcoming" Star Wars films are the same as any "upcoming" Star Trek films. They don't exist until we're sat in the theater watching the credits roll.

#LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched #filmsky 📽️ Hope - nuts in the best way. I need a sequel ASAP Gandahar - trippy French animation appeals to me War Zone - saw the cast and gave it a try. Heavy subject matter, but good performances Don’t Go In The House - too tame for an 80s slasher

Listening to the commentaries on Halloween 4 and 5 and it’s oddly comforting to know that even on lesser, late franchise horror sequels there are people both taking the work seriously and having fun. #filmsky 📽️

Went to see Hope. It’s a wild ride. Great action sequences, hilarious dark humor. However, it ended in the same manner as Disclosure Day and that’s starting to annoy me. #filmsky 📽️

#LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched #filmsky 📽️ Muck - was hoping for ZomBeavers-type fun. Sadly no Dog Stars - quite enjoyed it. I want an extended cut Phantasm - a rewatch but I hadn’t rated it on LB. Classic strange horror. RIP Reggie EEAAO - maybe the weirdest movie ever. Damn good though

I've been working on taking pictures of M31, the Andromeda Galaxy Tried stacking and processing using Lukomatico's StackingWizard and AstroWizard, really happy with those apps. I feel like image processing is a big barrier for the hobby and Luko is doing wonders for accessibility #Astrophotography

Everything I hear about the fan experience at Lone Star Le Mans makes me hesitant about going. Heat, lack of shade, parts off the track closed, few support series, etc. I may skip going to a race next year and hit up Gateway in 2028 to see the new Indycars.
