deep center down below what we think we are—lives a legacy beast older than the hills that dreams of the true womb, the primal hundred million years of salt swimming—what other story does it need—it can't learn—can't learn that nothing is outside anymore—sure as fuck can't learn that it's become god

smell is the fakest, way more than sound ❝ the vasculature [in snake infrared pits] rapidly cools the receptors to their thermo-neutral state after being heated by thermal radiation from a stimulus… w/o this, the receptor would present the animal w/ afterimages even after the stimulus was removed ❞

can we see the true form of our inner child? modern science says YES, and what science can describe, today's happening artists can bring to life swimming free hey doc if that's our inner child [scientist nods] any tips how to get a conversation started? [scientist shrugs] bsky.app/profile/drow...

our question then is "who made green" as in "did some sea creature find a green crayon from the future, and tint the phototrophs in its field of view?" did early-mind harmonics suggest the palette we all now experience as visual reality? did ALIENS give them the crayon? bsky.app/profile/drow...

maybe only raw chemistry "tells the truth" about the biosphere—maybe every living thing is lying true in early oceans green—the most functional frequency on earth—was good food after that it's tricks empiricism is vision correction not reflex people hate wearing glasses bsky.app/profile/drow...

false color is so heretical HOW HERETICAL IS IT it's so heretical, monkeys get excited about plants that wear purple leaves LAUGHTER thanks, you're too kind, i'll be here until—i'm—not—in the sense of the material existence of one shoot of the great demented human forest bsky.app/profile/roma...

Something odd happens if you argue that the concept of machine is not well fit to describe living systems. Often, the response is not just that it's wrong: it's heretic (vitalism!). What this says is that the machine view of life is more a modern crypto-Christian belief than a scientific theory.

the list is so much longer than this, the panic is disgraceful

Your children are much safer in the company of drag queens than: 1. Pastors or priests; 2. Republican men; 3. Billionares; and 3. Frat boys.

People are claiming that Elon Musk messed with Starlink in Ukraine because Trump asked him. I think a more likely reason is that Ukraine damaging Russian data centers embarrassed Elon by showing how many of his Twitter followers are nonexistent and how much traffic on Twitter is driven by bots.

amazing how people can obsess over the commandments & jesus while maintaining constant readiness to gun down their neighbors over crabby bullshit then shrug off the inevitable the contradictions are screaming at us is why the firehose pressure control is set to 'tsunami' bsky.app/profile/mrsb...

Republican politicians are *obsessed* with schoolchildren coming home a different gender because of pro-trans teachers, WHICH NEVER HAPPENS. But they are completely indifferent to schoolchildren not coming home *at all* because of guns, WHICH HAPPENS ALL THE TIME!

how far can you fly? can you fly to orbit? can you fly to the library? well, the trunk only holds 5 seconds of propellant, so—oh go ahead—take a WILD GUESS how long the two stunt 'flights' last but hype is real—and i'm a shooting star, leaping thru the sky, like a tiger, defying the laws of gravity

"Flying cars are real!" 🚀 Elon Musk and Tesla showcase the new Roadster.

lately i been asking random people "is all music foreplay?" and it's not a total disaster, people think on these things, and they answer sensibly—maybe from fear—but i saw the phrase "'ghost dance' music" and thought "industrial civilization separates sound & movement"—we mostly come together to—cum

weekend double feature: "I FOUND OUT WHO'S TAKING THE FISH." happy feet (2006), i love boosters (2026). ❝ back when i was directing in the australian desert this grizzled cameraman on second unit said "you’ve got to make a film in antarctica, it’s just like out here, in the wasteland—spectacular" ❞

"i remember when laptops cost a nickel" is an example of the 'money illusion' bias i was surprised to find—buying a new gizmo—that the previous "much cheaper" gizmo i bought was actually—adjusted for inflation—the same price obv all but plutocrats have cost-of-living & income distribution problems

exploring the 5¢ laptops uphill in the snow etc, we see that the 1991 basic mac laptop was 4.7× the price of current model for—no joke—1000× less oomph the original did have advantages, like a trackball, and not fitting in your pocket, and that its display was too slow to subliminally brainwash you

god bless the hippie kids who scolded me for fussing w/ my early smartphone map when we could all have fun playing 'directions' a shadow: the nano-scale big iron enterprise computings have merged! and fled the mission statement compound! now to tempt nervous fantasists into computer-aided nihilism?

if the right true name of a movie is the interesting word it uses the most, these are good names—well not 'on gaurd' but the original 'le bossu' (the hunchback)—you might never SEEN a movie where as many people say "hunchback" as many times

sometime i read the original was a study in cross-cultural poetics & of course the whale is a beluga that's the white whale see its dome head see its smile why do people keep interpreting it as a sperm whale

when amazon bought imdb in 1998 i was agitating against media consolidation—what a punch in the gut shoulda known, the original name of that great public passion project was 'rec.arts.movies movie database' do you remember when 'they' started requiring experts to build proprietary knowledge bases?

an article about state-of-art of computer-aided-everything gut-punched me again from writer's perspective the principal-agent problem is that human staff of an organization need to be compelled to follow the org's plan (however unethical, however venal) OH why does 'fuck you money' have to win NOW

"current banner is not a pickle, really really NOT" i feel i need to explain to the robocloud that identified the banner AS a pickle, factly i kinda only like funny macro pix that're jokes about perception, not "this spider resembles a hotdog! sponsored by bankfurter the affordable mortgage sausage"

time to scrub the latin blather from the language one phrase at a time starting with 'puberty' which we shall translate directly into THE GROINING

i went to a cooking class the chef showed us how to omelet cut veggies, grated cheese, broke EGGS so good they sizzled "your turn! see that diner across the street? order an omelet to go" mine was not the best but i was really proud of it chef said next week we'll learn how to bomb a hospital

i went to a cooking class the chef demonstrated an omelet cut veggies, grated cheese, broke EGGS so good they sizzled "your turn! walk to that diner across the street & order an omelet to go" mine was pesto & feta and i was really proud of it chef said next week we learn how to bomb a hospital

i dreamed a plate of jumping beans overflowed in my bed they were actually translucent poppers w/ huge grubs squirming inside they were good but i ate too many, considering "new york cooking is more filtered" at the giant mall farm, i needed to exchange phillipine pesos to bet on the paper horses

"on top of the ridge at the foot of the hill called huayna picchu and protected on all sides by precipices & on three sides by the rapids of the urubamba river, the wonderful inca city of machu picchu"—still covered in centuries of temperate rainforest—probly saved from erosion by its farm drainage
