I’m a former Reagan conservative who left the Republican Party years ago. One turning point was when I attended an early Tea Party rally. I was stunned by what I heard and knew the direction conservatives were headed. They became so scared of “tyranny” that they became the tyrants.

HuffPost reporting 1,000 protesters and growing at Stonewall! If you are in the area get down there!

There’s around 1,000 people here and growing. Hard to hear speakers without amplification, but crowd is very enthusiastic. Alt: pictures show crowd at protest in Christopher Park, where trans pride flag is still flying

A core feature of the APA (Administrative Procedures Act) is protecting against "arbitrary and capricious" agency actions…This standard is useful because it allows courts to invalidate a policy even when the agency has otherwise complied with the APA's requirements…

npr.orgTrump's executive actions are getting challenged as 'arbitrary.' What does that mean?At the center of legal challenges against Trump's executive actions is whether he's telling federal agencies to violate a key legal standard established nearly 80 years ago.

In 2024, I moved to Montana for a position as a university professor. I was assured MT is a “libertarian” state with a “live and let live” attitude. That is not remotely accurate. Now I have to end my academic career - one that I spent over a decade working toward - and flee the state. I just can’t…

Here’s the deal. Trump fully knows most of his EOs will be blocked or highly restricted by the courts. That’s part of the strategy. The GOP can now perpetuate the narrative that the “radical left” is blocking the “will of the American people” and secure their place in the next election cycle.

Excited to see Rep. Kortum's bill again this session. Here's hoping we can get it through and help renters.

Kelly Kortum@kellykortum.bsky.social

Ever pay a rental application fee, but didn't get the apartment? Why are we paying for a service we never receive? That's why I am introducing HB 311, to refund fees to Montana's renters who don't get the place. #mtpol #mtleg 🧵 ⬇️

Jeremy Bentham was an Enlightenment-era British philosopher whose writings heavily influenced the development of “western” political and criminal justice practices. He was also a reformer who advocated for women’s rights and decriminalization of homosexuality as early as 1785. #criminology

I’m weary of hearing the “republic vs. democracy” argument made by people who don’t actually know the answer. As a result, I’ve decided to build this into tomorrow’s class lecture on the 14th Amendment and how it influences the criminal justice system. #dueprocess

I’m agoing to step in it with both feet. We are talking about the law right now and the 14th Amendment is on the schedule for tomorrow. I’m going to deep-dive the topic due to current events (birthright citizenship, immigrant rights, etc.). I teach in a red state. Wish me luck. 😅

“We argue, in contrast, that transgender rights stem from human rights, i.e., those fundamental rights belonging to every person. Persons with…transgender identities deserve to live and flourish in their communities… without fear for their safety and survival.”

journalofethics.ama-assn.orgTransgender Rights as Human Rights“Born that way” arguments have been used to establish transgender rights, but lack scientific evidence. Stronger support for promoting transgender rights comes instead from human rights-based language...
