What Dolly taught us is that it is in fact possible to be wealthy beyond your wildest dreams of avarice but still be a fundamentally good person with a strong moral compass, and the only reason more rich people aren't like that is because they don't want to be.

My latest "ask a marine biologist" for SCUBA diving magazine answers a question I often get after my public talks: with problems as serious as overfishing, climate change, and plastic pollution, does it even matter what I do if I'm just one person? I hope you'll like my answer! 🧪🌍🦑

Today, Aug 8, is #SevereMEDay. Today we discuss severe-presenting #MECFS and remember people with severe ME. #MECFS is an infection-associated chronic illness, which means it is often, but not always, kicked off by an infection. ~Half of #LongCOVID cases at 6 mo meet the dx criteria for ME/CFS. 🧵

I was not informed by the BBC that they would have a right wing political figure or lobbyist on after me to rebut what I said. The individual in question went on to spout lies about China, etc. to distract attention from the Trump administration's assault on climate action. This is unacceptable.

Being a mum and trying to do [all of the things] means I've been rather quiet of social media of late, so just a note that the world and the news can look increasingly bleak and that doesn't mean their aren't beautiful pockets of goodness and kindness. I love Autumn, I love the colours, I love clear cold days, I love cosy jumpers and pumpkin spice. But I have been really struggling with my health the last few weeks for no obvious reason... then I learned 'October slide' is a regular thing for people with chronic illness. Great. #me #cfs

While it sucks, it is a relief to know it's not just me, and it's not anything I have done 'wrong', which is the constant paranoia with a chronic health condition. Suggested reasons for it include -barometric changes -temperature changes -daylight changes -general increase in cold/flu viruses 🫠

It's already been a whole year since Zephyr joined our family, and while he has bought a lot more chaos and mischief into our lives he has been the most incredible support in helping me manage my ME/CFS. 💙 #chronicillness #longtermillness #ME #cfs

We have built up our walking together from being only able to manage 10mins a day to being able to easily walk 30-40 mins and even some longer walks without collapsing the next day, which seemed impossible a year ago! Building up our walking routine has given me so much more freedom and positivity

I have managed to graduate from my PhD and start a new job (part-time) as a postdoc, which there were times when I never thought would be possible. His happy face brightens my day, he gets me out and walking when I need to, on my bad days makes me laugh and comes and cuddles me when I need to rest 💙
