Just a Print Shop guy that fled twitter... I'm a D&D player and an IPA enjoyer. - I'm not selling anything.

Ordered 3 crunchy beef supreme tacos from Taco Bell. Got 4 soft tacos, two beef and two chicken. I'm pretty sure my order is only right about half of the time at literally EVERY fast food place.

I am not yet at the point where I refer to a nice clear road with some sweeping bends as "the twisties" and I kinda hope I never get there.

Ya know... I think my most hawkish thoughts are around bombing all Russian data centers. I could be easily disuaded with actual facts and honest thinking.

The funniest thing I find with AI is that it seems to judge you when it perceives that you have judgments about others. Even better is that it backtracks immediately if you try and give it more context rather than asking about your context before judging you.

Leftists ought to hand it to Elon today. He has announced a product that is going to violently kill a nontrivial number of billionaires.

I wonder how long it will be until "dumb" appliances and vehicles, unconnected to an app or the internet, are sold at a premium because everything else is susceptible to AI infiltration...

Now I'm solving some pretty specific issues, and gaining insight I hadn't before. AI seems like a very bad thing, but it's so damn useful in some contexts. So, do I keep using it for coding, knowing that I might in some small way be helping to bring about the end of the world? No lo se.

Do I nerf myself in the short term for a possible higher moral superiority when people and forces way bigger than me are making this stuff regardless of what I think? I don't think I can. I realize I might also be making the boomer argument for the cost of world destruction for my comfort.

That said, I'll be damned if I ever write an email using AI. If I sent you a message, it was with effort for a reason. I expect you to read it with as much effort as I wrote it.

I don't want AI in anything usually, but it is a really is a good tool to fix coding stuff that you don't have the time to understand. If your use case is, "I want this ship ticket to look different, but don't want to learn XSL to make basic edits." - Perfect candidate.

we don't have time for another plague apocalypse. we already did that. we're on to robot apocalypse now, try to catch up. next in line is fungal apocalypse. please consult the schedule

Apparently I have to watch 22 min of this for 50 "wellness points" at work... I just worry about someone ducking their head in and asking what the hell I'm watching.

Jesus Claude... absolutely feral, and I love it. "You have more than 20 years of experience; you’ve earned the right to be more than a ghostwriter for someone who can't form a sentence."

Holy crap... these people that get addicted to AIs have got to be morons. I've been working in Chat GPT 4.0 to the current Astra and Claude up to Opus for a few years now, and I can FEEL when they ALL start breaking down. A few flashes of brilliance, followed by helpful uselessness. Frustrating.

How can I implement this? Do this and this and this. On the third step, I'm wondering about this part... Yes, third parts are very difficult. Would you like me to research previous historical examples of plans? No, please answer my question on implementation. What would you like to implement?

I normally drink tea, and coffee is just so bitter and gross... but that rush I get once a month when I drink it is worth the taste. Is there such a thing as a coffee chipper? Cuz I'd qualify.

I love that the Omafeed list is roughly: 30% local news 20% someone mentioning Omaha Beach 20% something about "Omaha Cat Dancer" 10% some rando mentioning Omaha existing 5% Omaha Native American tribal news and dancing and a solid 15% of "Other" posts including song references and old HS photos.

Every time I ride to work, I smell some really dank-ass weed about 2-3 times on my way... People in cars, on their way to work, getting blazed. There have got to be a lot of stoned people at work every day in Omaha.

I'm not judging, fwiw... I don't think I'd be particularly capable if I tried to work in that state, but some people "pull levers" for a job, and that'd be brutal to do every day without some kind of distraction.

I think, if someone wanted to seduce me, the best way would not be with sex. Instead, if they got really interested in the music I love, and kept asking for my recommendations and to listen with me, I might fall madly in love with them. "You make me want to be a better music curator."

Just watched a document editable by the entire organization linked in a company-wide email get slowly destroyed by additions and changes... There are currently 145 people viewing, and various folks have changed the font, the text size in various chunks, a few have critiqued the writing.

It's clear that most are probably unaware they are making changes, most are random spaces or an odd character. It's possible some are nodding at their keyboards while "reading" and don't realize they're doing it.

Today my manager (who is a carnivore-ish diet guy) said he can't believe they'd put soda in my pretzel chips... he also avoids seed oils like canola. I told him that I like them, and soda is used to make the water alkaline which hydrolyses the wheat protein leading to better maillard browning.

It sounded so nerdy, but it really was just an explanation. I just about heard a *whoosh* as he shook his head with a disbelieving "OK nerd..." kind of energy. If THAT is too much to take in, maybe evangelising about the right way to eat is something best saved for the Facebook posts.

I dislike cold drinks getting warm so much that, it doesn't matter what it is or how big it is, I'll drink it in about 5 min. I don't think that I could physically survive a full day of Oktoberfest.

Today I got to ask a frustrated IT person if they had restarted their computer to clear an issue. They argued that it shouldn't need to be, but I insisted. Wouldn't you know it... The restart fixed the issue. They thanked me and quickly got off the call. "Dude, I think I just did both our jobs!"

This exact spot is why I think most Omaha refuses to zipper merge correctly. We all have a burnt in memory of getting cut off by some jerk who merged right last minute. It's a trauma that gets recalled every time a lane is shut down. Most line up for fairness. www.google.com/maps/place/O...

Brought my motorcycle to work today. Took me 2 full weeks to recover, but I'm feeling dumb enough to hop back on. It's too fun not to want to try to get better.

I wonder how successful a podcast featuring exotic dancers trying beers with a couple of beer enthusiasts would be... You could call it "Pints & Poles" or something fun. There would be no nudity or excessive bawdiness, just pretty girls that probably don't drink beer much on a tasting journey.

I've got a weird anger in me for old people that seem utterly helpless. You had decades to ready yourself for the failing of your body. There is a point at which you have to give in and just rely on others. Until then, plan ahead and problem solve and you'll stay capable and classy a lot longer.

Time to fill out my yearly review. I've been here 24 years man, I'm starting to feel like Red in The Shawshank Redemption. Kinda feels like a thing we do to mark another year, rather than any opportunity for counselling or growth. Always has been too, even across 5 managers in my time here.
