We welcome Angela Scott’s announcement to pause the compulsory redundancy process. We have always been willing to return to the negotiations in good faith and the two week pause allows us to do this with the aim of reaching a position that reduces the number of compulsory redundancies. 1/2

Day 18 of 25. Nigel Seaton left the University of Dundee today. Since he “took over” he has destroyed morale and hundreds of staff have left. The vast majority from Professional Services. He has not left the University in a better position and should not be applauded. 1/2

A serious fight for the future of Higher Education is taking place in Scotland right now. Dundee and Edinburgh UCU branches are all out for 5 weeks against mass redundancies due to government cuts. That's half of the first student term, or around a quarter of the year's key teaching period.

What will the Scottish Ministers and Scottish Parliament do about the failures Dundee UCU have identified of the SFC in its role to ensure HE funds are appropriately administered by the University of Dundee? The SFC is legally accountable to the Ministers and Parliament for its actions.
