I emailed Patrick Healy, assistant managing editor for standards and trust at NYT, to ask why their story about a House report with new details of rape allegations against the President of the United States included neither those details, nor a single use of the word "rape." archive.is/1s9AM

Dear Girl Scouts (or parents of Girl Scouts): Sell cookies and/or ask for money directly. Fundraising with nuts and magazines and terrible personalized tumblers is just putting more unwanted junk into the world.

RFK: "There's five hundred million Arabs in the world. And yet they don't produce science. They don't win the Nobel Prize. They don't win the Fields Prize. They don't win the Wolf Prize. They don't produce literature."

On the other side of us was a family of four with two redhead girls under the age of five in Gophers cheerleading uniforms. Buddy yelled about something being "fucking stupid" and immediately turned to them to apologize. The dad agreed and the mom turned out to be a lovable foulmouth, and we hugged.

There were some 20something Iowa fans next to us at the game on Saturday. Typical turds but nice enough, but just lacking in realistic perspective. They were more worried about Iowa's playoff prospects than losing the Pig. It's good that they lost.

Mom kept trying to get a pic of the kids and I asked if she wanted a family pic, and afterward she said "They better have been fucking smiling. I wanted to tell them this is the fucking Christmas card."

You heard it straight from the Bandog, Chickens Little. The only people who are right are the people who think this is not going to happen here in the United States of America.

Steve Bannon on the Brazilian election: “...this is a Marxist globalist government, and if you don't think this is not going to happen here in the United States of America, you are dead wrong."

I hope he didn't earnestly use the word "travesty" in reference to preseason polls. They might be "dumb" or "pointless" or "not worth anyone's time" but they're not worth thinking about enough to elevate them beyond that.

Count Nebraska coach Matt Rhule among those not surprised by the flurry of upsets defining this college football season.

There's a special joy in not being worried about whatever biblical beating Indiana is going to put on Minnesota on Halloween because the trophy case is full for the first time in my life no matter what.

Sorry, but I don't believe the Catholic Church is gullible enough to be blindsided by Trump shamelessly using its weight for his own benefit. I'm sure some of the individuals there had their expectations subverted, but we're not talking about naive actors here.

tomorrow's bsky main character: sure, lula is better than bolsonaro, but have you considered that he's not good in every single aspect?

NFL front offices pointing to this and saying Flores's teams "don't win the right way" as an excuse not to hire him

The Vikings being the last undefeated team left while having the worst offense in the NFL by success rate is truly one of the most impressive things I’ve ever seen

That's right, folks. The future is BI

And on AI: “I don’t want to depend on Chinese nor American AI. I want to create a Brazilian intelligence.” He also mentioned having Brazilian data centres dealing with our intelligence. “We will no longer be a peripheral country. We want to be central.”

Hope (2026) has a lot of problems, but it's also the only movie I've seen all year that made me immediately think of the dril sniper-gone-woke tweet (derogatory)

Mr. Obama, sir. Do you not understand that the Magic Time Machine is the height of dining-slash-entertainment for these people? You insult their very way of life!

Not an exaggeration. She should be at least nominated in each category

Olivia Wilde for Best Actress... ... and Best Director.

As someone who has seen the video for Justin Bieber's "Sorry," I have to say I didn't appreciate hearing the Kidz Bop version of Justin Bieber's "Sorry."

me: *sets cat stevens's wild world as alarm* me, two months later, in my head during every waking moment: and i'll always remember you *stop* like a child, girl

The missing context here is that even if "ICE protestors" had stayed home, almost everyone that was out would still have been out, because it wasn't protest. It was community defense.

Jake Grumbach@jakemgrumbach.bsky.social

A helpfully clear exchange here Hasan: "So your argument is that [Minnesota ICE protesters] should stay at home because immigration is a salient issue for Donald Trump. Opposing ICE is only going to help Trump. Wait until we win the election in 2028." Yglesias: "Yes that is what I would have said"

lol motherfucker doesn't know about RAGBRAI

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Joe Mitchell: "Thank God you're building the ballroom. Thank God you're getting rid of those awful bike lanes. We don't ride bicycles in Iowa."

"We don't ride bikes in Iowa, but we damn sure make an entire festival out of an entire bike route across the state"

Sure we pay you $10M+ per year to be the Head Coach, but it's ok if you outsource your decision making to a computer. We definitely don't consider your mind part of the Head Coach paackage.

I'm sorry, but judges need to start telling DOJ attorneys, on the record in federal court, that they will personally see to it that their involvement in bullshit cases like these will drag their asses down for the rest of their careers. If you're not that pissed about it, why are you even a judge?

NEWS — The Trump administration sued Alaska over Dan J. Sullivan’s Senate candidacy, arguing voter confusion could affect the race between Sen. Dan S. Sullivan and Democrat Mary Peltola, per Courthouse News.

It's like my kid bringing a grievance to me and the grievance is that her friend wants to play freeze tag instead of regular tag. That's not worthy of this venue. Have some respect.

Looking at Texas the last two weeks really drives home just how funny it is that Tennessee couldn't get the job done against them. They'd be 7-0.
