An intro to me for anyone new... Hi! My name is Klaus von Hohenloe, sometimes called The Dungeon Newb's Guide. I make videos teaching about TTRPGs and things surround them. www.youtube.com/@TheDungeonN... I also do professional voice work. Video games, Commercials, Youtube Channels, and more.

youtube.comThe Dungeon Newb's GuideThere's a lot to learn when it comes to Tabletop RPGs. Thankfully for you newbs, there's a master (ok, guy who knows a decent amount and is still always learning himself...) willing to help you out.

Bryan Johnson is like a comic book supervillain, but like...the joke villain that is actually just so pathetic that the hero kinda feels bad for them and is like "Dude...you need to just... stop, ok? People are watching. No, Luthor isn't your partner, he's over there filming you and laughing."

My friends and I are doing recaps of our ttrpg sessions in the form of in-character journals, and I really just can't recommend this enough. We did this in another campaign and it ruled and we are doing it again now and it rules again.

As a huge, longtime Castlevania fan, I can say after ~5 hours playing so far that the new Castlevania: Blemont's Curse is...pretty good. Not bad. I like it.

Is it my favorite in the series? No. Thus far, not even top 3. But it feels like a pretty solid game with controls that are sometimes a little sloppy, combat that is a little messy, and a story that is present. It isn't quite the series-rebirth I imagined, but I'm still having fun.

Alright, here we go.. Voidlight is available in print! A little over a year ago, I was out of a job and had some time off, and I got inspired to create a dark sci-fi universe. What started as almost a game on a napkin grew to 16 pages, then 90+.

Between Razer and Elgato's apps, I'm not sure which I hate more. Razer's give me issues more consistently, but when Elgato's give me trouble, like it did today, it eventually leads to me wanting to Ron Swanson my computer. Ah heck, why choose!? I have enough hate for them both!

Every so often I reminded that there are people paying $60 for a loaf of rye bread that looks like it is sold by the artsy cousin of an Apple Store. I would make a joke, but why bother? That store has made a joke out of thousands of people already.

"But have you tried it!?!?!?" I've tried rye bread, yes. "They only make it with FOUR INGREDIENTS!!!" Yep, that's how you make rye bread. "It tastes better than other bread I've had!" Fresh baked bread is very good, yes. I can make it for like $2. "Then you should charge $60." That's idiotic.

Truly every session of Public Access has been better than the last. 9 sessions in, and my players are constantly surprising me, creating amazing moments of tension, and just knocking it out of the park. This may be the most fun I've ever had GMing, and I fucking LOVE GMing. Play this game!

Fantastic thread on a common misread of move structure. Practically required reading for folks interested at all in PBTA design.

15 years ago when Apocalypse World was new and people were beginning to understand and work with it, it was seductive to look at "acting under fire" and see, not one basic move of several, but the template underlying all the game's moves. Like @kierongillen.bsky.social 's classic gag:

I don't like asking for help but please if there is ANYTHING you can offer, it will help a ton and thank you every friend who's reached out, it has helped a ton www.paypal.com/paypalme/Ner...

paypal.comPay Nerdy S using PayPal.MeGo to paypal.me/NerdySim and type in the amount. Since it’s PayPal, it's easy and secure. Don’t have a PayPal account? No worries.

I see some negative reviews for "friendslop" games saying they are only fun for like 5 hours. I've dropped $35 to spent 45 minutes in an escape room. I'm more than happy to drop $7 for 5 hours of laughter and fun with my friends. Slop me up.

My partner just explained everything about Wonka's The Golden Ticket to me, and I've never hated a show this much without even seeing a trailer for it. AI Gene Wilder voice, cash prize for winner, and the contestants are all fairly affluent adults and no kids (you know, the focus of the movie)

I couldn't handle it. I needed a break from Dungeon Crawler Carl. Book 5 was just...look, I have opinions, but I'll get back to it. Probably. Instead I'm revisiting Terry Pratchett with "Guards! Guards!" and I have not a single regret. Sam Vimes is how you make an abrasive MC you can cheer for.

I'm not trying to throw shade at anyone who likes DCC or Carl as a character. I have my own preferences, and I'm not saying one is better than the other. I mean, Vimes is definitely better, but that's just my opinion. Which is the correct opinion.

There's been a post going around on Reddit about the reality of using platforms like Kickstarter and BackerKit. And I think it's very important for independent creators to realize a couple of things before they get started with those platforms. So here is a free post on my patreon about those.

I'm doing this again, but this time it is late, and I'm on an exercise bike. That's...that's not really part of the format, just like...good for my health...

It's time for my first stream of... BacklogRolling! Where I randomly select a game from my Steam backlog of almost FOUR HUNDRED GAMES (yes, I have a problem...), and stream it for 1-2 hours! Will I find a hidden gem to add to my to-play pile, or will I toss it on the fire? twitch.tv/klausvonh

Alright here goes.... Boundless is being crowdfunded in February, but here's a surprise: you can get the full game and play today! I worked closely with Backerkit to offer a new way for you to "reserve" your digital copy of the game at a big discount that would count towards the total fund goal!

I understand that pro sports are a huge part of culture but it is hard to watch the way they are treated with sanctity even above the lives of human beings. That is morally wrong, unambiguously. We should sacrifice Zero human lives for professional sports.

"I would be vegetarian, but I looove chicken." "I would be vegan, but I like cheese too much." Ok? Then just do that? What, are you afraid you won't qualify for the exclusive club membership? This isn't all-or-nothing where if you eat some gouda you suddenly aren't allowed to avoid meat anymore.

No one is perfect. Any vegetarian/vegan/whatever what demands absolute perfection or nothing is frankly a bit silly to me. Ideally? Sure, yeah, let's all be perfect. Realistically? I'll do what I can while keeping sane in a rough world, so chill.

In short... Wanting to do something that you believe in, but not doing it because you don't believe you could do it perfectly is, in a word, silly. I guess this could be about more than dietary preferences, huh? Well, this is the end of this particular thread, so figure that part out on your own.

Look, you do whatever diet you want. I'm not gonna judge. But when you say, "Oh, you're vegetarian! I would be, but I could never give up my mom's pulled pork," don't look at me like I'm weird when I tell you to be a [mostly] vegetarian who eats pulled pork. You're the one being weird!

As a player? Make strong choices. In improv, we have to teach people to stop making milquetoast decisions and to care strongly about what’s happening in the scene. I see so many players making decisions where nothing happens You’re playing people who go out and do things. So go out and do things.

If you like deep, immersive magic and worldbuilding, character-driven play and epic stories I have great news for you! I'm opening my tables again-- this time offering a Kids on Brooms game AND a Daggerheart game! Check 'em out!!

Back in the day, I exclusively used this huge, off-set trackball mouse. Loved it for a decade, but it finally bit the dust. When I looked for an identical one, there were none, so I've used a "normal" mouse for the last 8 or so years. But then I looked again...and the style is back and improved!

It is taking a little bit of getting used to it again after all this time, but god damn it is smooth and just...everything I've missed. The precision. The comfort. The baaaaaaalllll.

I was reminded of this when talking with some of my dearest friends, and they mentioned remembering me having them try out games (Oblivion or something) and having the WORST time trying to use my unholy abomination of a mouse. This was the original. A thing of beauty.
