It was 9 am & 98° when "Genaro" and "Ian" took a break under the shade of the irrigation trailer in Coachella CA. They're preparing the land for winter vegetable crops. Extreme heat turns soil into dust and their work ensures it can hold water as planting is beginning. #WeFeedYou

If its bets on AI come good, they could accelerate the technology’s adoption. If they misfire, the cost will fall chiefly on its shareholders. That is how capitalism is supposed to work

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg had a bold plan to replace his employees with AI, but backed down amid a staff revolt. Our reporter Katie Paul will answer your questions about our special report during a Reddit AMA on September 3 at 1:30 pm ET ➡️ reut.rs/45ZQ0hR

Thanks to those that have purchased the book so far! The royalties from this book will help offset the costs of running this Food Safety startup, but only if a lot of people buy it. I don’t have kids, so consider this my asking you to buy Girl Scout cookies or whatever Boy Scouts sell… popcorn? 😉

Hello everyone. My name is Walt Moorhouse and I am the owner of this company. I also was until recently involved in R&D around AI usage in retail. I wrote a book about why you should NOT go “AI Native”. It explains the downsides of AI and looks at “Ethical AI.” Enjoy! www.amazon.com/dp/B0HH2T3D49

If you want to actually know what you’re talking about when arguing with AI Bros online, this is your ammunition. Everything you need to know to logically dismantle any argument about AI inevitability or how AI can replace people. $3 so that you don’t look uniformed while discussing AI is a steal!

There is a section in this book about why they can’t just “change the AI code so it will not do Bad Things” that should be required reading before BlueSky users are allowed to comment on AI stories.

Our system lets consumers scan a barcode that shows the origin of the beef and every processor it passed through before getting to you, in addition to information about the animal itself and how it was cared for. US Grocers refuse to use it because they do not want you to know! Adopt us, Canada!

This Ontario man thought he bought Canadian beef at Costco. Then he saw the label in the back - Randy Thompson of Gravenhurst, Ont., stopped at a Costco in Orillia this week to pick up some Canadian beef. Instead, he unintentionally bought beef from the United States.

This may seem self serving, but at what point do we demand e2e food traceability for businesses of all sizes? All the businesses turning me away are “too small” to be required to perform basic safety checks on the food they sell you. I think if you have a retail location you should monitor. Period.

Even places like whole foods and kroger do not do end to end traceability. They do have temp monitoring, but that doesn’t help when you need to locate the source of a contaminate or find which stores the affected products are in. We could be doing so much more, but these businesses just don’t care.

It is very discouraging to keep being told by food purveyors that they are “not interested” in a system that would help prevent food borne illnesses during a time when every single day there is a new story about food safety issues. Especially considering we offered it free to some of them. 🤷‍♂️

Dolly was a National Treasure and we are all worse off for her passing. Thank you for everything you did for us Dolly, and for being such an inspiration.

Just so you know that I practice what I preach! Here I am using a Meater probe to ensure this Tri Tip roast is cooked to the perfect (and safe!) temperature.

This. I offered to provide *free* food safety monitoring to three local food companies today. They all said they were “not interested” in tools to prevent their customers from getting sick and dying. They do not care about you, only money. Food used to be able connecting people, but no longer.

Food companies wanted deregulation. Now there are dozens of recalls across the country. Mining companies wanted deregulation. Now the black lung rate is at a 45-year high. Financial companies wanted deregulation. Now financial losses to fraud are the highest on record. Noticing a pattern?

Very discouraged today. I had meetings with several well know local Portland food businesses this morning. I offered to give them 100% FREE access to our system and $3000 in free hardware. One said “we don’t have monitor food safety because we are small so we don’t care.” All of them turned me down.

I feel like if someone said “I can prevent your customers from ever getting sick and it doesn’t cost you anything,” and your response is “no thanks,” that is not really a place where I feel comfortable buying food anymore.

When I started building this platform, (a multi-year journey) I wanted it to become the “TurboTax of FSMA” where farmers and small businesses didn’t need to read and understand hundreds of pages of laws, they just had to answer some questions and enter data (or preferably use our sensors) to comply.

Unfortunately yes. However, it seems that food safety is not a priority for the current administration.

Are all these food recalls I’m seeing real What can people still eat in the U.S. Is it just oatmeal and okra

The technology to monitor and track food and prevent outbreaks exists, and we make it easy to use. If you are involved in farming or the food chain please email info at eatsafe dot tech for more information on how we can help.

The cyclospora outbreak has reached 13,895 cases across 47 states. The FDA has recalled 1.6 million eggs due to salmonella contamination. Screwworm cases continue to rise. And we’ve just surpassed 2,500 measles cases — breaking 2025’s record. “Make America Healthy Again.”

I love seeing things like this! Our platform includes energy monitoring so we can show usage, but maybe we should add a feature to track solar energy *production* as well… To the code cave!

Dear Canadians, our system not only supports FDA regulatory compliance but FSIS as well. We ingest all US and Canadian food recall data so we have the latest recall information as it is released. If using our inventory system you will automatically be notified of recalls that affect your inventory!

One thing our platform can’t do is comment on whether or not a particular regulation is necessary, but we can help you keep track of imported products so you can prove to the cheese police that your brie is legal.

This is why you should collect your own data so you can prove to your customers that you actually care about their safety. How many brands out there are rebranded Taylor Farms? It is going to be interesting to see the stats on the number of foodborne illnesses over the last little while. Lettuce, cilantro, eggs now… It’s like having an oversight and regulatory body with enforcement powers is important as business has shown time and again that it cannot regulate itself.

Re: cyclospora, Taco Bell having ethics and going "you know what, it's always the fucking lettuce, why don't we just pull that until we know what's going on" resulting in all the outlets going "LETTUCE SOLD AT TACO BELL LINKED TO EXPLOSIVE DIARRHEA" is a fantastic way to discourage ethics in future.

Are you a grocer who wants to track the cold chain of your produce to make sure it is not making your customers sick? Our EatSafe platform powered by Annulet Origin tracking software can make this easy. Visit eatsafe.tech for more information.

This is the sort of thing the Food Safety Modernization Act was supposed to prevent. While the current administration has not made Food Safety a priority, we have! Our system is designed to offer a holistic view of the food supply chain, using Traceable Lot Codes to identify contamination sources.

Nearly 3,000 people have been sickened with cyclosporiasis, a foodborne infection marked by intense, watery diarrhea, according to state health departments. The CDC reported that 31 states have reported cases of cyclosporiasis and 86 people have been hospitalized. nbcnews.to/4aK0S69

Our Food Traceability system would be able to identify the source with the scan of a barcode. We could be preventing so many people from getting sick if grocery chains cared more about people than profits. If you’re a grocery chain and want to keep your customers safe, visit eatsafe.tech for info.

I was attempting to send someone a recipe via text message just now. Autocorrect on my iPhone changed Gum Arabic to “A Rabbit” for some reason, but thankfully I caught it before hitting send! That could have resulted in some confusion and possibly inconvenienced an innocent bunny.

We should do something similar. So much food is wasted while people going hungry. This is one of the things driving me to make my platform happen. It would end so much waste.

McDonald’s could have prevented this using our platform. Unfortunately none if the technology we rely on had been invented yet! Our platform uses the latest technology like: Temperature RFID, Thread mesh networks, LTE-M, LoRaWAN, BLE, and many solid state sensors that didn’t exist in the 80s!
