Took a bit of a break from Gameboy games to work on a #reddit game. I made this image of Socrates for a game about 10 years ago and never finished it. So, I'm now making a game where Socrates asks you questions and ridicules you when you contradict yourself. #gamedev #philosophy #logic #indiedev

Nekota will journey through the months of the year as he moves to the right. Each month will be themed on hanafuda cards. Adding a little crane to the game. I need to work on color palettes and art in general. #programmerart #gamedev #indiedev #gameboy #homebrew

Nekota is trapped between a rock and a rock in this procedurally generated #gameboy platformer. The level is generated on the fly by stitching together 8x18 tile chunks. I put the god game I was making to the side since my son wanted me to make something "more exciting." #indiedev #gamedev

A little bit of progess on Give and Take, my #Gameboy god-game. I've got water that generates grass, which generates trees. My limited development time has mostly been spent learning about color on the Gameboy Color. #indiedev #gamedev #homebrew

I've swapped out Conway's Game of Life for a different algorithm to model grass growing. In the original #LudumDare version, the player can either pick up a tile or drop it down. As the player moves tiles around the Game of Life-esque algorithms update the world. #homebrew #indiedev #gameboy

I've started working on my next gameboy game. This one will be a remake of a game I made for #LudumDare many years ago. It will be a tile-based god game. To get some of the initial prototyping going, I made Conway's Game of Life for #gameboy. #retro #homebrew #gamedev #indiedev

Just made my game "Ozy" public on tallshrimp.itch.io/ozy. Between all of the responsibilities of adult life, it was hard to find time to work on this game. But, I'm so happy I was able to actually complete a game on the #gameboy. #gamedev #indiedev #retro

Between teaching and spending time with my family, I haven't had time to work on #gamedev in a few months. Trying to make sense of my bad code now and make some progress. #gameboy #retro

I'm testing out ideas for the title page for Ozy. I still need to add text for high scores and starting the game. I want the little Ozy sprite to have dynamic messages that change from time to time. (e.g. "Sisyphus only has one boulder; I have dozens.") #gamedev #indiedev #gameboy

I was in Japan for the holidays and picked up a nice selection of #gameboy games from BookOff. I have replaced pretty much all of the batteries at this point. #retro

The plan for Ozy is to increase the rate at which the stones fall onto the map. Darker stones cannot be moved without a powerup. Eventually Ozy may become trapped. The game ends when a stone falls on him. Next task: rework the stone tiles. #pixelart #gameboy #retro #gamedev

My little sokoban #gameboy game is coming along. The main game loop is done. I'm now working on some of the #pixelart. Asked my wife for titles and she came up with 石押す. I wanted the main character to have a name, so I took 押す and mutilated it into Ozy. #gamedev #indiedev

I've been trying to come up with a gameboy game idea that is small enough that I can actually finish it. This game is a sokoban game where sontes periodically fall onto the field. The character has to avoid being crushed while pushing the stones off the edge. #indiedev #gamedev #gameboy

Part of me feels like I should fix my spaghetti code before starting to add features, but my kid really wants monsters in my #gameboy game. Meet Hanamon--the walking flower. #indiedev #gamedev #pixelart

Remaking a game I made for a game jam many years ago, but this time I'm making it for the gameboy and writing it in assembly. It's taken a while, but I've got some basic physics and animation going. #coding #assembly #gamedev #indiedev #gameboy

Messing around with palette swapping in #pygame. Pygame doesn't seem to be happy with any depth less than 8bpp, unfortunately. I've been studying gameboy color limitations in order to add some fun activities to my computer science class next school year. #gamedev #gameboy

You are up to date.
