I just burned 50,000 latest frontier model tokens adding an ASCII art chicken to the end of a SystemVerilog testbench that displays the words PASS or FAIL next to its beak depending on the test results.

Scrolling social media is so exhausting now. Half the stuff is either AI or made up stories for clicks. I need a version of the internet that blocks all that crap.

Bluesky thinks I'm in Texas and now is forcing me to verify my age??? Welp, it's been fun while it lasted. No way I'm sharing my info with some third party just so they can get hacked, my information stolen, and only get a slap on the wrist. Adios.

Welp, there goes the neighborhood. New VC CEO, prepare for enshitification.

Some personal news: I’m transitioning from CEO to a new role as Bluesky’s Chief Innovation Officer! I’m excited to welcome @toni.bsky.team as our interim CEO. More here: bsky.social/about/blog/0...

The final conclusion: turns out newer samsung tvs don't play by the HDMI CEC rules. Randomly came across someone's post on a forum that shared the secret: you have to set the active source with the command EF:82:10:F0 before you can tell the TV to go into standby.

EF = broadcast from ID "E" to the network 82 = Op Code for Active Source 10 = High byte of address of HDMI Port address (this will vary based on config) F0 = Low byte of address of HDMI Port address (this is the made up, non-standard, samsung special sauce, normally would be "00")

Less hangry now, tested the HDMI CEC commands on my TV at home and they work perfectly. Now I know I'm not a dummy and was doing everything correctly, it was the new Samsung TVs that apparently require some special sacrifice in order to honor a standby command which I've yet to figure out.

I never want to see another HDMI CEC traffic log again in my life after the 8 hours of hell I just went through with a stupid piece of shit Samsung TV choosing to just ignore the commands with no apparent reason other than to drive me further insane.

You ever just minding your own business, maybe listening to some music, or watching a video, and suddenly your brain asks, "Where did I go wrong in life?" Seems to be happening more often these days.

Woke up to a very chilly house... Of course this happens when the overnight low was 17F, and I can confirm my attic where the furnace is felt like that lol Got to learn how my furnace works while freezing my fingers off and put all that youtube HVAC troubleshooting knowledge to work!

Turn off fast boot. Rest the BIOS. Re-flash the BIOS. Try a different power cable. Reseat the card. Try to update the card firmware. Boot without card then with card. Enable ReBAR. GPU upgrade just turned into a whole computer upgrade.

Bought a new graphics card, installed it, PC wouldn't boot. Plug into the integrated graphics, boots up, thinking just a driver / BIOS config issue no biggie. Nope. PC won't boot without a monitor connected to integrated graphics. Once booted it flips over to new GPU and runs normally. :(

Playing around with NMAP on my home network as I learn more about it from TryHackMe, find an IP that I can't identify, have a brief panic, realize I setup a honeypot a long time ago and forgot about it.

AT&T's "5G+" with full bars (USB Tethered) They won't come upgrade the DAS micro cell radio at the office from 4G LTE to 5G so my phone is constantly struggling, bouncing between the weak local tower 5G and the 4G LTE micro cell signal that apparently uses a dialup connection to the backhaul lol

Today I learned how to use ARP poisoning to intercept traffic using tools in Kali and then modify the packets to mask taking control of a PLC without reflecting the true state on the HMI. Yeah, I'm a hacker now. #Cybersecurity #ICS

Went down the rabbit hole of Home Assistant and the Discord notification integration, and now I have ESPHome monitoring a CO2 sensor that posts in my discord when the reading is above 1000 ppm to let me know to open a window haha

Couldn't get comfortable to sleep so I just got out of bed and now I'm wide awake at 4am. I forgot how nice it is to be up at this time, when everyone around me is asleep and things are so quiet. I miss it.

I hope the University didn't pay someone to sanitize their conifgs before recycling/reselling... Because this thing hasn't been touched since it was yeeted out of the rack, full of user names and VLAN configs.

I'm on the hunt for some new homelab gear. I found some Arista 32 port QSFP+ switches on ebay so I can start down the 40 gig rabbit hole (and all the different optic flavors), but I'm not sure if Arista is homelab friendly (in terms of licensing / resources).
