Tbh I don't like how even some of the more moderately pro-AI people like to flirt with "sorry it's here to stay and everyone's just gonna have to adapt" type rhetoric, even when it comes to areas where that might be more true than others

Considering just how widespread that kind of rhetoric used to be back in the early-to-mid '10s when defending ideas that would end up failing horribly, I really do not blame many people for becoming allergic to that kinda talking point

To reiterate on a point I've made before, I really wanna see more Neocities-style unhedged rejection of the post-FB web in the AT Protocol world. I imagine a lot of people may see that approach as being more unserious or impractical, but I really do think it's worth trying

did anyone actually ask attie what it thought would be helpful? current implementation seems misaligned with what would actually drive people to use it / what people actually want / need.

It should not be "Facebook ended up enshittifying, so we should build an alternative that should be more resistant to that", it should be "fuck Facebook and everything it ever stood for"

my partner was telling me about this game they remember from childhood, it's like mostly entirely scrubbed from the internet, but I was able to dig up two pieces of lost footage showing gameplay. one is a clip from The One Show talking about the game and showing off a bit of gameplay

It feels like I'm one of the only people who remembers just how much sincere goodwill there used to be around what companies like Meta and Spotify were pushing. Like the kinda rhetoric you now often see on Neocities or Bear Blog would have pretty much been socially unacceptable back in 2014
